cotton coverings trimmed in lace
take the focus off her face
drawing eyes to hidden failings
focused on by spotlights trailing
something's wrong with nothing missing
empty is the face she's kissing
disappear to find illusion
her jumbled words breed such confusion
posters hang by photographs
intended to catch some easy laughs
strange may be the most sincere
as she struggles with consuming fear
altered habits change perspectives
scared of something too effective
sequined mirrored decorated
sometimes she feels slightly jaded
desires to disappear to gone
but no she can't she must go on
slip on the dress of another day
walking the path she knows the way
with her desperate desire to stay concealed
no one notices the dress as her shield
doubly masked at a masquerade ball
she's got nowhere to fall
