Wedding Change of Venue

May 01, 2010 20:00

The wedding will now be at our house, since the park is flooded and barricaded off.

I apologize if this is the umpteenth time you have read this, but other than crossposting everywhere, I could not think of another way to let 107 people know that we have had to change venues with less than 24 hours to go.

Due to the rain, I now seriously doubt 107 people will be coming...

Today was a panic day. Tears, a lot. Fortunately, we now have a plan.

I wish I could be calm about all of this. Calm and focused and able to see exactly what needs to be done and not be all upset about it. Unfortunately, the squishy creature that is my emotions is having none of that. In the end, it was talking to Dad and reasoning through it all that finally gave me some clarity. This will not be anything like what I had envisioned or dreamed of, but I am sure it will still be fabulous. And if no one comes at all, we can still do an exchange of vows and eat the fabulousity that is the cake my sister made and enjoy the flowers Lisa has spent all day arranging.

I had contingencies for rain, I swear I did. I had a roof in case of a bit of rain or a shower or two. I did not plan for two days of steady rain that would make the river rise (we asked about the likelihood of getting flooded out when we booked, they said it was minimal for this time of year) and flood the whole thing out. Of course, the flood made the decision to not try to have people standing out in a blowing thunderstorm under a roof but no walls an easier one...
