flavouredKITKATreview
I've been meaning to do this for a while, since I'm completely enamoured with the idea of flavoured Kitkat bars. So, here we are, a start to something pointless!
Today's flavour is
RASPBERRY & PASSION FRUIT
PACKAGING
Pretty damn cute. I bought the bright pink box, but there was also a brown one. Both were covered with hearts in pink & brown and some lovely pictures of passion fruits. The flavour name was also written in a metallic gold print and when you broke the box open the inside was brown with a repeat of the heart pattern. There were two separate packages inside the box, with two sticks each. On the back there was a section where you could write "Dear..." whoever and "From..." whoever, so I'm guessing that this was supposed to be for Valentine's or some similar kind of event? Either way. The packaging was amazingly cute and eye-catching.
FLAVOUR
This particular Kitkat was one of the dark chocolate varieties, which considering it was paired with two extremely sweet fruits was probably a good choice. The chocolate was the normal colour, as was the wafer, but the cream filling was a deep pink. The chocolate itself seemed to have a raspberry flavour added to it and it essentially tasted like any other raspberry chocolate so that part wasn't particularly remarkable. However, the cream filling had the definite tang of raspberry, which was a great compliment for the dark chocolate. I usually like eating kitkat in layers, but this one tasted much better when all the sections were eaten together.
You notice that I haven't mentioned the passion fruit? Well, that's because I couldn't actually taste any passion fruit. I'm not sure what part they were intending to be passion fruit, because I sure as hell don't know. Over all, the flavour was quite nice, but I found it lingered in my mouth for a bit too long. Damn cheap raspberry-dark chocolate.
RATING
♥♥♥/5
The lack of passion fruit flavour was a huge let down. The tangy cream filling was great, but the dark chocolate flavour definitely lingered a bit too long. The packing was amazing, though.
