Bpal/Chicago folks C2E2 request and a brief but babbly update…

Apr 09, 2013 00:03

1. So, ummm... any of the chicagoland folks maybe reading this and going to C2E2 able to do me a favour? (if not, don’t worry, I just thought I’d ask…) Bpal (ie black phoenix alchemy lab, ie coolest perfumers ever) is vending at the con and released their exclusives scent list and 3 of them look AMAZING (The Court of Honour, the Great Basin and Little Egypt)... so I was wondering if anyone would be willing to pick up these bottles for me. I of course would send funds via paypal for the bottles and mailing...

2. Three weeks left in Calgary! And I've finally met a bunch more of "my people" (through the science centre and yoga) in the last few weeks, so I've been social and happy and at least I’ll be leaving the city on a good note in that I feel like I could have stayed and made a life if I really wanted too... (it still makes way more sense to return to Toronto and I am pretty gosh darn excited to be able to do so, after resigning myself to never living in TO again after I started the PhD).

3. I survived spring camps, and was able to metaphorically swim in the deep end after being thrown in without a net. I was able to work "normal job hours" and still function and learned that while yes, I like to have multiple back up plans I am indeed able to succeed by the seat of my pants (though oh my goodness the stress). Kids are the greatest, and so resilient. I really want one (there were totally a few from camp that I would have loved to adopt). Also knowing cat’s cradle came in very handy. I am definitely going to look into museum education post grad certificates and opportunities. Also, the first week on the first day there was a camper wearing a crosby pens shirt and one in a toews hawks shirt! I could talk to the boys about hockey and it was GREAT.

4. Speaking of hockey, I had the Iginla roll at my favourite sushi place this week (I figured I should finally try it before it gets removed from the menu). It was pretty tasty. AND I watched the women’s Canada/Russia semi final over dinner. And today was also a great hockey day for me because Sid’s face is back doing interviews and he’s looking really good (seeing him go down last week was very much NOT FUN) and smiling and being amazingly chill about everything. Although with the comments about shakes and keeping up his weight - why is no one making him potato leek soup? Or sweet potato and squash and carrot? Cause I really hope someone is. Due to a bike accident, I know a bit of what he’s going through - I have had nine teeth extracted (thankfully only 1 from the accident - although it was broken in half and had a cracked root and they gave me laughing gas and I have a bridge (thankfully no broken jaw, although when they did xrays for wisdom teeth removal they found a giant cyst that had eaten away a ton of my lower front jaw bone, so it’s really good I don’t play contact sports)) - for Sid it sounds like they are waiting to see how much root re-absorption will result from the impact for the broken teeth, and have put on temporary caps for those. I really love that Sid is still smiling and I am really looking forward to seeing him back on the ice. *crossing everything crossable* that the pens get back to being healthy for the playoffs...

more soon? *hugs*
