Back to school, kiddies!

Today was my first day back at college. One of the classes I'm taking is Philosophy. My professor seems super kool. He looks like he's younger, and he already has his Doctorate! How impressive. All my friends told me I would love that class, because it really makes you think about stuff. As many of you know, I ponder life nearly constantly. The whole class period was spent debating different topics. Everyone kept raising their hands and putting in their opinions, but I just kinda sat back and really listened to what people were saying. Some people pretty much just re-worded what everyone else was saying, which led me to the conclusion that they weren't really listetning anyway. Others brought up some really good points. One girl told us she was married to a gay man. Hmm. So far, I'm impressed with that class. We'll see how it goes.

I'm amused at how everyone dresses up so nicely on the first day back. It's like we're all trying to impress one another or something. When you think about it, that's pretty ridiculous. What the hell do we have to prove to anyone other than ourselves? I hope that we're at least trying not to care too much about what people think of us. In the scheme of things, it doesn't matter anyway. All that matters is how you feel about yourself at the end of the day. Maybe we aren't even conscious we do it. Maybe it just stems back to when we were in first grade and our parents made us look all cute because "It's the first day of school!" I can't help but laugh when I see girls tottering around campus in high heels with 40 pound backpacks on. I'm sure within a few weeks everyone will return to good ole' hoodies and ponytails.

I'm off to the first club meeting of the new semester! Woot! I think there will be food. Even bigger woot.
