I thought I should tell about the
blog run by John C. Kotz, the head mentor of US team, emeritus professor of chemistry at the State University of New York, Oneonta. I've read it all (just 11 entries) for obvious reasons, smiled at the mild irony in some places, like "today we are "translating" the exam from Russian English into U.S. English". Why is it ineresting for you?
In the third post on the topic, it's about time to tell what IChO actually is. I'll cheat again here by
linking to Wikipedia. In short, it is the top competition a high school student can participate in and it is two hard 5-hours examinations, practical and theoretical. BTW, IChOs are scheduled for up to 2012! Now, I'd like to discuss and compare some features of high school and undergraduate education in Russia and United States. Apologies to other countries, but these are the only two I know something about.
Aarrgh. I intended this as a quick link post, but delved into comparisons and analyses. Now I realize that it's 5 AM and I'm not done yet. To be continued...
