Synopsis: Cassandra is a human with extraordinary abilities. She is invited to a private Island to compete in competition for a large sum on money. What happens when you find out that you're not the participate but the one being hunted for sport?
30 Days from the Present
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” His scream echoing through the jungle fell on deaf ears. He was the last survivor of his team, and couldn’t believe he made it this far. “OH GOD!” He screamed as he felt the hook sink into his legs like a warm knife cutting through cold butter. As the person holding the hook pulled him back, he watched the tips of his fingernails make patterns in the soil. A combination of earth and his blood left a crimson stain on the jungle floor. The second hook entered his leg and he found himself dangling between two large trees.
“I’ll split the money! I’LL SPLIT THE MONEY! I’LL SPLIT-“
Two men stood on either side of him and with one swift tug; they yanked down and literally tore the man in half. They left him hanging, torn and bloody as they ran back to camp to claim their prize.

“Excuse me do you know how to get to terminal C? Do I go left or right?”
Once she realized somebody, was talking to her she looked up from the invitation and stared at the young man. “I don’t work here.”
“Yeah but you’ve been standing here, I’m sure you’ve been here for a while-“
“Try that way,” she said waving him in the opposite direction.
Explained during Orientation, she read silently as her phone vibrated in her pocket.
“You’re still not going to talk me out of this,” she told Seth on the other line. “It’s some serious cash and besides how hard can it be? Look I’ll call you when I win okay?” She snapped the phone shut and slid it back into her pocket.
“Now boarding Flight 345 to Quest Island. All passengers please check in any oversized bags that cannot be stowed in the compartment decks or under the seat.”
Cassie had one bag with her; she shifted it on her shoulder and prepared to enter the plane.
Quest Island
“Welcome to Quest Island,” it was the first words she heard as soon as she stepped off the plane. “Please head inside for registration, orientation and dinner before tomorrows festivities.”
“Thanks,” she frowned wondering if she was on the right Island. As she walked down the path, she noted the perfect manicured gardens and exotic plants dotting the walkway. This looks more like a resort than an adventure Island, she thought. Oh well ten mill is ten mill.
She walked inside, signed a few forms and was handed a set of room keys. There were only two levels, and her room was on the second floor. After she showed and changed, she ran back down stairs for the Orientation dinner.
“Hello, I’m Mr. Quest and I would like to thank you all for accepting my invitation. As soon as we have confirmation that all those invited have arrived I’ll be discussing the rules of the game.”
Cassie drummed her fingertips on the table, Okay boring, she thought as she looked around. Let the games begin.
She stopped tapping her fingers and began to trace patterns on the table cloth. With an attention span as short as hers, she was going to get bored fairly quickly. Until the third man sat down at the table she never noticed there were two more seated to the left of her.
He was dressed in black, and he had a cape. “You know it won’t kill anybody if you smiled?”
Is there going to be a show? Wait a minute, am I at a secret cos-play convention. Oh god I just admitted to myself that I know what Cos-play is. Thank God nobody can read my mind. Was I supposed to wear a costume? A cape…no boots…no shorts and a cape? I don’t want to look like that skanky chick all in white.
Cassie slouched against the chair tapping her fingers on the table as her mind raced a mile a minute. Capes are lame, she concluded and sat up straight.
Oh God,…Mr. Lame-ass in the cape…he‘s talking to me“I make it a point not to kill on Friday,” she tossed back at him, “Why ruin a good weekend? I guess this is your lucky day.” She maintained her grin even when she heard the CEO began to speak into his microphone.
“There are 16 people divided into four groups. Take a look around at the people you’re sitting with because those are your teammates.” Mr. Quest said.
“Okay Ms. I don’t kill on Friday, do you have a name? Or should I just call you heaven on earth?” He said.
With a quick glance she committed their faces to memory and let her gaze rest on the last one to join them. “Cassandra Alexandra, that’s my name,” she said in response to his question.
“Don’t you want to know my name?” He asked.
“Not really,” she said and rested her hand on her chin. “I’m sure you’ll tell me soon enough.”
“That’s where your wrong little lady! Will don’t tell no ladies his name if they don’t…ah shoot. I said my name,” Will said.
“That you did, now be quiet,” I said and pointed at Mr. Quest.
“The concept of the game is simple.” The lights dimmed and a slideshow presentation began behind the podium. “All you have to do is capture the white flag and bring it back to home base.”
Cassie leaned forward and stared at the white flag. She squinted and turned her head. Is that a volcano?, she thought as she watched the bubbling lava surround several rocks. Every once in a while a geyser of molten rock would spray out towards the camera. In the center of the volcano, on a rock formation stood one single white flag.
The camera zoomed outwards showing the participants that the volcano surrounded by cliffs, jagged rocks and periodically rocked the Island with volatile explosions. “Now we do have a few rules of course. Rule number one: All your teammates must survive until the very end. If any of them are captured, injured or killed and you have the white flag in your possession then you will forfeit the right to win 10 million dollars. Rule Number 2: Remember rule number one.”
What happens in Pillow fight club…stays in Pillow fight club, she stifled a laugh, cleared her throat and continued to listen to the presentation.
He paused for a moment to gauge the crowd’s reaction before he continued speaking.” Anything goes in this game. You can even take out the opposition anyway you see fit. However you can also earn bonus points on creativity. And by creativity,” he leaned into the microphone, “I mean how long you can keep them alive before you put them out of their misery.”
“Now doesn’t that sound easy? Oh I forgot to mention one small detail, well a lot more than one actually,” he chuckled. “You’ll have to avoid all the obstacles on the Island. These are to prevent you and your teammates from succeeding in winning the game. And the volcano is 5 miles away. Each team has two weeks to capture the white flag. The game begins tomorrow at sunrise. Each team will begin at an undisclosed location. Please look under your plates.”
Cassie lifted her empty plate and pulled out a small envelope. She quickly opened it and read she was part of the Red team and they would assemble on the East side of the Island.
“We have a private plane that will relocate the teams to the four corners of the Island. Guns are not permitted on the Island, since death by an automatic weapon is not considered creative. In one hour the warehouse will open. Does anybody have any questions?”
Questions? Cassie had tons of questions but she figured it was pointless in asking them. So she just thanked the server as he poured her a glass of champagne and then watched the bubbles float to the surface. It was better than listening to Will go on about how he was an expert knife thrower.
Cassie turned towards Will and whispered, “Are you part of the red team too?”
“Yes, isn’t that great? We’re on the same team?” Will said.
Cassie eyed his cape and clothes and slicked back hair and said, “Some how I don’t think so.”
“Excuse me Ms. Alexander,” Mr. Quest came up to the table. “You are the only person with a room by yourself and there has been a mix-up. I wanted to let you know that you are going to have a room-mate.”
“Oh well okay, who is she?” Cassie asked.
“It isn’t a she, it’s he. This is your new roommate,” Mr. Quest stood up and patted Will on the back. “You don’t mind do you?”
“Oh….my ….God,” Was the most articulate thing that Cassie could say at the moment.
Will just grinned and said, “I get the bed by the window.”
“Do I mind?” She repeated and shook her head. Oh I know what this is, it’s a psych out because I’m the only woman here. I see what’s up. If this guy thinks he can psych me out, then he has another thing coming.
“Not at all,” she gritted her teeth and punctuated each word as if she pulled a trigger of a gun. It took all of her self-control not to render the man unconscious by her thoughts alone or worse dead. But she was going to be more wise than her cape wearing partner. She’d refuse to show her ability unless she absolutely had to.
“Great,” Mr. Quest said standing up, “then it’s all settled. Good to see you’re such a good sport Ms. Alexander. Well that concludes orientation; I expect to see everybody on the flight pad tomorrow at sunrise. If anybody fails to arrive at the designated hour they will be disqualified and sent home,” he paused, “in a body bag”
“Yeah Like I haven’t heard that one before,” she threw back and stood up as he handed each of them a room key and a packet.

The room, which she was to share with the man in the cape, was decorated with the essentials. Two full size beds stood at opposite sides of the rooms. Cassie took the one closest to the door, and noted there was only one bathroom. Opening the curtains revealed a large window, nearly the size of the wall, which showed nothing but jungle against the sunset. All of this wasn’t even the worst part. The worst part was that there wasn’t a television or a radio. Just a table with a deck of cards sitting in the center of it.
“Want to play go fish?” Will asked.
Cassie ignored Will as she wordlessly dropped her backpack on the bed and heard a knock at the door. Quickly she opened it up to find herself face to face with a young man who looked like a cross between a bell-hop and cos-play warrior. “All electronic devices are to be confiscated until after the challenge.”
Reluctantly she pulled out her cell phone and handed it over. I feel so naked, she thought.
“Sir, your cell phone and all electronic devices as well,” he said to Will. “As well as any handguns, grenades, or anything we consider contraband.”
Will must have had deep pockets because he started to pull out all kinds of things. A cell phone, a game-boy, an Ipad, a laptop, two M-16s, an AK-47 and a rocket launcher.
Does that cape have TARDIS technology?
Cassie noticed two backpacks on a cart outside the room. “Is that for us,” she said walking outside and grabbing the handle of the green canvas.
“Yes,” he frowned, “But your supposed to wait until-“
“You just took away my only form of entertainment and left me with a deck of cards,” she glanced at Will, “Which I’m not even sure has a full deck so doesn’t give me the spiel about having to wait for something on your terms.” The bell-hop nodded and closed the door.
She picked up her backpack, turned her back on Bell-Hop Commando boy, and set it on her bed. The first thing she did was open it up and inspect the contents inside. One hunting knife, string, heavy fishing line, rope, a D-Ring, Grappling hooks, Poncho, flashlight, and insect repellant.. She noticed there wasn’t a compass but that didn’t matter. She had a silk shirt and a sewing kit in her own bag. It wouldn’t be too hard to rig up a home made one. She went through her own bag and stuffed what she through she would need into the official bag and zipped it up.
She decided to get some fresh air, and get a feel for the ‘competition’ but when she went to open the door she found it locked. Frowning, she wiggled the door handle around until she heard a computerized voice tell her to step away from the door.
”STEP AWAY FROM THE DOOR”
“What was that?” Will jumped up and ran towards the door.
”STEP AWAY FROM THE DOOR”
“Oh wow!” Will jumped back and then darted towards the door.
”STEP AWAY FROM THE DOOR”
Then Will laughed and stuck one foot towards the door.
STEP..
He kept doing it over and over again just to hear the computerized voice repeat Step until Cassie grabbed him by the back of his cape and pulled him away from the door.
“This is ridiculous,” she mumbled before spinning around and kicking the door with a roundhouse. Her foot struck nothing but steel and then she heard the alarms sound. At the same time, a large volt of electricity surged through the door sending her flying half way across the room. The once spectacular view of the jungle was marred by Steel bars that slammed down in front of the window.
“Ms. Alexander.”
She sat up and looked around the room. That was when she noticed two camera’s on opposite corners of the room.
“Nobody leaves their room until sunrise, sleep well.”
She was sure the voice belonged to Mr. Quest. If there was one things she detested, was being caged. And being recorded. This was disturbing to say the least.
Cassie shook her head and stood up. She turned to Will and said, “I swear, if you really walk around naked,” she frowned. “Just don’t do it.”
“I like to sleep naked. I don’t like to be confined to clothes when I sleep,” will said. “We can even snuggle or pass the time with sex. Strip poker?” Will asked.
“I thought you were gay?” Cassie said.
“What? I’m not gay?” Will said. “Whatever gave you that idea?”
“You’re wearing a cape,” Cassie said.
“Well yes but it’s a special cape,” Will said.
“Aren’t they all?” Cassie said.
“Are you okay?” Will asked.
Her ears were ringing, or maybe it was the sound of his voice. She couldn’t help but notice that he never shut up. It was fine with her since she tended to zone out a lot and had what she liked to call ‘selective hearing’. But her selective hearing was broken around this guy. “I’ve had worse, I mean getting zapped,” she shook her head and smoothed down her hair. “It’s not important.”
Quickly she marched over towards her bed and picked up the large hunting knife. Spinning around on her heels she stared at Will, Holding the hilt tight in her hand she walked up to him, and then past him as she climbed on the chair directly under the surveillance camera.
“ Listen up you big perve. I’ll agree to your terms of not leaving my room but I’m not agreeing to let you record me while I sleep and put it on youtube!” She grabbed the wires with one hand and cleanly sliced through them cutting off the transmission.
“Ms. Alexander,” Mr. Quest said over the loud speaker, “We may have lost visual but we still have audio.”
Frustrated she stuck the knife in the desk next to the deck of cards and then picked up the folder with the rules inside. She scanned it and although she did read that they could not leave their room, she didn’t read anywhere that they would have to pay for any damages.
“I call the shower first!” She said grabbing her bag and walking into the bathroom. After she quickly showered changed and cursed the room for not having an exit. She dressed, walked out and cranked the A/C. After all, she thought she was going to have her own room and she couldn’t very well sleep naked like she normally did.
Pulling out the hunting knife embedded on the table, she placed it back in her backpack and then stared at the deck of cards. It was either play cards and listen to him talk or go to sleep. This is one hell of a crazy slumber party.
“So Will, this cape of yours,” she said opting to pick up the deck of cards. “What makes it so special?” She said as she idly shuffled the cards. “I just want to be-“ she stopped talking and moistening her lips as she looked at the disabled video camera. ‘come here’, she mouthed and walked back to the bathroom. Quickly she turned on the shower at full force knowing that if she spoke in a low voice it would make everything she said garbled to whatever bugs they had in the room. “What else can you do? Can you do anything? With what you can do, and what,” she paused, “Well lets just say we can have the upper hand in this contest. They have rules, but rules were meant to be broken,” she finally let a smile that could melt marble grace her face.
“Oh well my Cape is a magic cape, well not really but it’s kind of like a portal to another dimension. I can store a lot of stuff in it. Fruit roll up?” Will said as he pulled out a box.
“I love these,” Cassie said taking the fruit roll up from him.
“I’m also an expert knife thrower, and shooter and a martial arts expert,” Will said.
“Okay that’s good to know,” Cassie said. “Anything else?”
“I can teleport?” Will said.
Cassie smiled and patted Will on the shoulder, “Now we’re getting somewhere. We’ll get that flag in no time.”
She turned off the water but refrained from discussing her own ability with Will. He was still annoying but at least he was useful.
Plus he had Fruit Roll-ups.
***
The following morning she quietly sat in the plane and waited until they called her and Will’s name. She couldn’t help but notice they were the last ones waiting for their turn to jump. The game started with each team parachuting out at random drop points.
“All right it’s your turn.”
Cassie tightened her backpack after she stood up and walked towards him. The second man handed Will a parachute and began to officially try to strap him in.
“You know,” he said to Will low enough so only he could hear him. “I don’t like what you are. And I’m going to make sure you don’t win this game pal.” He nodded at his partner who grabbed Cassie by her arm and threw her out of the plane without a parachute. “Doubt your partner will survive that fall. Sorry about your luck,” he scoffed.
“Wait! Don’t do that!” Will said.
The first words she thought of was mother fucker, as she twisted her body in midair trying to position herself as if she were diving towards the ground. Gritting her teeth she shifted her entire body, clothes, and the backpack into Liquid right before she splashed at the top of the water fall.
Cassie also had an ability, one she never broadcasted to anybody. The scientific term was molecular manipulation and liquid was her form of choice. She was able to psionically transmute her body, clothes, personal items, and anything on her into liquid form and use the momentum to propel herself forward.
It was what she was doing at the moment when she hit the waterfall and used the rushing waters to take her into the lake below. Once she reached the shores she shifted back into a solid state and rested her cheek briefly against the jungle floor. After a few heart beats she pulled herself up, took off the backpack and made sure everything was in its place. Satisfied, she pulled out the hunting knife and slipped it into the back of her belt.
“Bastards,” she said as she reached into her bag and pulled out the silk shirt, a sewing kit and a small cup which she set down next to her. She filled the cup with water and found a fallen leaf which she let float inside. After she found a needle in the sewing kit, she stroked it 100 times in the same direction and then set it on the leaf so she could use it for a makeshift compass.
Standing up, she waited until it pointed north before she started walking. She no longer cared if she won the game or not. Now she was going to ‘take down’ Mr. Quest and knock down anybody that attempted to stop her.
***
Without Cassie around Will allowed his true nature to surface. His eyes turned red, his teeth elongated and his true nature came out. He was more than just a teleporter but also a shape-shifter as well and he was angry. He lifted his hand and stuck his claws into the neck of the man who threw Cassie out of the air-plane. Will ripped out his throat and discarded him. He then reached into his cape and pulled out a grenade. As soon as he pulled the pin he shoved the grenade into the last man and then dove out of the airplane.
He teleported down to the ground below and began to search for Cassie.
But not before changing his appearance and attitude to that of a passable attractive idiot or course.
***
The explosion in the air caught her attention. Okay that was unexpected she tilted her head watching the plane they just shoved her out of fall deep into the jungle. She wasn’t sure if that was a good thing or a bad thing or if it would have happened regardless.
Cassie remembered seeing the direction of the volcano prior to being shoved out of the plane. As she turned around studying the leaf floating on the water, she figured it was east. For a long time all she could hear was the peaceful sounds of the jungle until Will’s voice broke her inner Zen. She crushed the paper cup in her hand as he started talking. With a sigh, she just let it flutter towards the ground.
“There you are! I saw them push you out of the plane and you’re okay.” Will rushed towards her and hugged her tightly. “This is like some reality television show isn’t it? Where do we go from here?”
“I don’t watch Reality T.V. I think it’s lame and I’m heading East,” she said motioning towards the volcano. “I’m kind of pissed right now with the whole falling from the sky thing, lucky for me,” she spun around, “That water fall kind of broke my fall.” Okay it was a lie, but she wasn’t ready to reveal that she had an ability as well.
“The quicker we get this over with the quicker we can I don’t know,” she gestured as if deciding whether to get a complicated coffee beverage or an iced Mocha, “kill Mr. Quest?”
“Okay, Whatever you want, I’m on your side,” Will said. “B-F-Fs forever right? Should we get matching necklaces?”
Wordlessly, she knelt down and opened the backpack. She pulled out the dagger and slipped it behind her belt. Truthfully, the rest of the stuff was just a waste. Kicking it, she left it by the water. Let them think I’m dead, she thought as she started walking East.
It wasn’t long before she felt the hairs stand up on the back of her neck. Predictable, she stopped and dropped to one knee as she quietly listened to her surroundings. The quiet didn’t last long as she heard the thundering of feet, followed by tiny thin needles covered with a green substance. Quickly she stood up and ran as fast as she could through the jungle. The fact that she could feel them embedded into her hair and clothes didn’t bother her as much as it should have. Breathing deeper she kept running away from the thundering footsteps until she saw a clearing in the jungle. Pushing her body harder, she jumped over fallen trees and rocks until she skidded to a stop. The drop below was about 30 feet and ended over jagged rocks and boulders. Shit, either I jump and reveal what I can do or I’m going to pass out from whatever is in these darts.
Quickly she turned around to see if Will was behind her or still messing around with his cape. She was actually relieved that he was behind her.
“Will, can you get us down there?” Cassie asked feeling woozy.
“Yes I can,” Will wrapped his arms around Cassie and teleported her thirty feet down to the base of the water fall.
They made it towards he base but Cassie was already delirious from whatever poison was in those darts. She knew she had to shift if she wanted to survive. Will was carrying her and without warning she exploded into liquid form and pulled herself together in midair. Her body dropped on the jungle floor and reformed in the fetal position.
“I wasn’t expecting that,” Will said as he knelt down on one knee. “Are you okay?”
“Yeah, I am now,” Cassie Said.
“You’re a mutant like me? What is your ability?” Will asked.
“Molecular manipulation. I can change molecules to liquid. I just try not to let anybody know it,” Cassie said.
“Cassie,” Will said.
“Yes,” at that moment she saw his demeanor change, his voice deepened and his eyes darken to a deep shade of red and it made her realize whatever he was or however he acted wasn‘t really who he was.
“Somebody on this Island knows you’re a mutant. I have a feeling this game is merely a ruse to exterminate you. I do not believe they know what I am. I haven’t seen any other contestants and I’m sure the obstacles are merely meant to distract us before they kill us. We need to head back to the main part of the Island, Find Quest and get answers”
“You mean …the money….the game is all fake?” Cassie asked feeling rather naïve. She should have listened to Seth and never came.
“Yes, come on let’s go,” Will said.
And just like that the tables reversed and Will led while Cassie followed.
“Be careful, because the part about hidden traps wasn’t a lie,” Will said.
Cassie nodded and kept her eyes out for any traps. As if I’m going to see a trap. How could I have been so stupid. Seth warned me about this is. He’s right, I am naïve. I depend too much on my powers. I don’t even know how to fight. All I’m good at is kicking men in the balls. I don’t even know if I should trust Will. Suddenly he’s not acting like that douche with the cape. Now he’s acting like he knows what’s going on. What’s at stake. I must be a really bad judge of character or something.
So lost in her thoughts, Cassie didn’t notice that they walked into another trap until the sharp metal stakes came shooting at them. She didn’t even have time to shift, but luckily Will was teleporting her to safety within seconds. All she suffered was a metal stake embedded in her arm but a quick shift and it dropped down on the ground and she reformed healed.
“Can’t you just teleport us back to the main building?” Cassie asked.
Will stopped and said, “Actually I can, I don’t know why I didn’t think of that before?” Will wrapped Cassie in his cloak and then teleported them back to the main building.
“It’s so quiet; it’s nothing like it was last night.” Cassie shivered and rubbed her hand on her arms to warm herself up. “It must be a hundred but suddenly I feel so cold.”
“It’s just nerves,” Will said.
Together they headed towards the main building.
***
“Mr. Quest, the cameras have picked up the signal from the woman pushed from the plane. It’s confirmed she is a mutant. So far we have discovered 90 percent of the contestants are those with special ablities.” The woman spoke into her headset.
Mr. Quest stared at the screen before him and pointed towards a blue signal on the south east end. “Send in the first team and have them attack the red team, killing any humans that are in the way if necessary. Make sure all cameras are turned on in sector 7G and start filming now.”
“Yes sir,” she said flipping switches and speaking into her headphone.
“Sir we lost signal on the female and the male but…wait a minute…oh no sir! They’re in the court yard heading towards the building,” she said.
“Continue with Blue team and monitor their movements, let me know exactly where they are heading,” Mr. Quest said.
***
“This is blue team Alpha and we read you loud and clear” The team leader turned to face his teammates. “We got confirmation of the scum heading south east. Our orders are shoot on sight, no questions asked. “
Except Blue Team Alpha never made it to the South East of the Island because Cassie and Will were heading straight for them.
The leader, pulled out his M-16 and opened fired.
Will teleported towards him, grabbed his rifle, and teleported away. He continued to randomly teleport in order to distract them away from Cassie.
Cassie was not happy, she hated rifles, unless she was on the other end of one. “I have no patience for reindeer games!” She said and lifted her hands. A trick she learned last year, she was able to manipulate the blood running through their veins and with enough force she could stop their blood flow and induce strokes, heart attacks or just make them lose consciousness. All four men slumped down on the ground and she blew on her fingertips as if she were blowing off the tips of a gun. As for what she did to them, even she was unsure.
“I’m not sticking around to find out if they’re alive or not,” Cassie said.
Will wrapped his arms around Cassie and teleported them into Quest’s office.
“What I don’t understand,” He said never once turning from the computer, “Is how you slipped past us.”
“It was easy…”
“Not you,” Quest spun around in his chair as he cut Cassie off, “I’m talking about the teleporter.”
“Is the part where we confess our secrets? Because I always did think that was a ridiculous plot twist designed to give the villain a chance to escape in the movies,” Will said.
“You know what? You’re right about that theory Will,” Quest Jumped out of his seat, and struck a needle in Cassie’s neck, he pressed down injected her with a clear fluid. “But I only needed a moments distraction.”
“What the fuck?” Cassie pressed a hand on her neck, stumbled backwards and began looking in all directions. When her vision cleared she realized she no longer had the ability to use her powers.
“How does it feel to be powerless?” Quest said.
“How about we find out,” Will said grabbing Quest and teleporting him out of the office.
Quest blinked and found himself at the edge of the active volcano on the Island. “You can’t do this.”
“Oh I believe I can,” Will said.
“No, I have this island set up to explode if my heartbeat stops, kill me, destroy the Island and yourselves as well,” Quest said.
“That my friend, is a chance I’m willing to take,” Will said as he pushed Quest into the volcano. He stood for a second listening to his screams before teleporting back to Cassie.
As soon as he materialized an explosion rocked the building. “Well I guess he wasn’t bluffing.”
“What the hell?” Cassie said.
Will didn’t answer her as teleported them towards the hanger, avoiding explosions along the way. “This way,” he said running towards the nearest charter plane.
“Can you fly?” Cassie said as she climbed inside.
“Not really, but I used a simulator once,” Will said.
Cassie and Will taxied down the runway and escaped before the small Island exploded one last time and collapsed into the sea. Cassie turned around and watched it out the window. “I should have stayed home.”
“Shoulda, coulda, Woulda,” Will said and flew off into the sun set.
