I think the government should get out of the marriage business period. Then people wouldn't be able to vote and make laws restricting who could marry who. It would be a private deal between two (or more) people of any gender as it used to be. They should get rid of tax benefits and have some sort of form to sign for households so medical emergencies could be legally handled by the person (spouse or roommate or sibling or whoever the person chooses, for crying out loud!) of our choosing. Simplify.

I've been watching the HBO series Big Love and I think it's ridiculous that consenting adults can't be married to more than one person too. Insanity... this legislation of morality. Consensual or victim-less "crimes" should not be handled by the criminal system because there is no victim! If nobody is harmed or coerced... well... who is anyone else to say that the action is wrong?

I was actually just thinking about the fact that those who tout marriage as some high calling or whatever DON'T want people who aren't like them to become married. As highly as they supposedly view marriage, they are against marriage unless it is under THEIR terms. How much more hypocritical can they get? Seriously?

I agree with you 100% about prop 8!

Thank you for posting this :)

BTW, how are you feeling? I don't remember if I congratulated you before, but I'm so excited for you! I think you're going to make an awesome mama <3

Thanks for your reply!
I totally agree about victimless "crimes". If there's no victim, where's the crime?

I'm feeling a little nauseous lately, and puked for the first time today, and have been really tired, but otherwise good.

Thanks for your post!
