Journal entries seem to be few and far between these days…

My computer broke right after finals fall quarter, so I went almost all of winter break without my laptop. Got a new one before school started though. Lost a couple months worth of pictures and documents, but luckily my external had most of my stuff before that.

I’m going to the UK for spring quarter!! I applied to a study abroad program at the last minute and was able to get in. I’m going to Northern Ireland for nine weeks to study some Sociology and then I am going to travel around Europe with Adam, Amy, and possibly Danny a bit before heading back. I’ll be missing my graduation, but I think we can all agree that being in Europe is better than sitting in the rain at Husky Stadium right?

For this quarter I am taking Spanish 103, Music cultures of Africa, Mycology (Fungi), and a pre-departure seminar for Ireland. Oh, and I am finishing up my Capstone project that is required for the Fisheries degree, meaning its 20 credits total… It’s a bit stressful, but it’s worth it to graduate.

Took a trip to San Francisco during MLK weekend to do some community service last month with Wesley club. Joey, Adam, and Danny were able to come along too, so we had a pretty good time. Got up around 6:00 each morning to serve over 500 breakfasts to the local homeless people for three days, which was quite the fulfilling experience. On top of that, since we were done in the morning, we had the rest of the day to do sightseeing, so we pretty much did a whirlwind tour of the city.

I just finished my application for the Peace Corps today... I have been giving it a lot of thought, and I feel like the Peace Corps is something that I am capable of doing; I'd get the chance to travel and be out of the U.S. for a while as well as have a positive impact somewhere. Now we just have to see which country they assign me to… I put my preference for Asia and the Pacific islands, so hopefully it’ll be over there.
