Man, so much has happened recently, and I ended up having quite a long break.

After school got out, I went up to Bellingham for a couple of nights so I could spend Thanksgiving with my mom. We had dinner at her friend Molly’s house, so I got to see that whole gang again, and of course the food was great.

After that I stayed at my aunt’s place in Edmonds, and we all went to see the Christmas tree lighting in downtown Seattle like we do every year. As always, it was fun, the tree was beautiful, and there were tons of people. The next day we went back to Lakewood and had our second Thanksgiving at Grandma’s. It was nice to be with the family and stuff, and again there was great food. After dinner we went to the Tacoma Dome because my cousin’s high school football team was playing in the semi-finals for state championship. It was a good game, but their team lost; I guess someone had to.

After the game, I made a late night trip up to Vancouver. When I had driven to northern Washington, I noticed some white stuff here and there, and thought “Oh cool, some snow.” Haha, yeah, by the time I got across the border, there was crazy snow everywhere, making it very difficult to drive, but I eventually made it to Vancouver. The next day I helped James move out of his flat. It was kind of sad saying goodbye to that place. We took all of his stuff to his uncle’s house since that’s where he was going to stay for the week before he left for home. Conveniently, his uncle was on a trip to South America, so we had the house to ourselves.

My plan was to leave Monday morning, but that sure didn’t end up happening. The roads were complete ice, my car was under a foot of snow, and the news reports were so menacing that I wasn’t even going to try to go home. I had planned to come back up to Vancouver that Thursday anyway because I was going to take James to the airport on Saturday, so after much debating I decided that I was just going to stay in Canada. I skipped a week of school and missed a quiz and a midterm, but I kept in contact with my professors so it seems to have worked out alright. I mean, I did have a pretty good excuse.

I love snow, and there was so much of it. It really put me in the holiday spirit. Sure it made things a bit more difficult, but how often do we get snow like that? I miss it now.

So yeah, the week comprised of many things; we watched a fair amount of Battlestar, had some nice rest, got homework done, went to the gym, and took a few strolls through the snow. Troy invited us for dinner one night, and by that point I was finally able to get into my car, so we were driving to his place when I realized the car was making a weird noise. Turned out I had a completely flat tire, and when we put the spare on, it was flat too. Luckily there was a tire shop close by, and even though they had just closed, we were able to get a guy to come out and help us. Dinner was nice; there was good food and good company. Ended up going to Odyssey with Troy, Saleem, and Gavin (sp?) later that night too; it was fun times.

After running a few errands and getting all packed up, I took James to the airport on Saturday for his trip to Australia. It was hard to say goodbye, but I know that he’s going to have an awesome summer at home with his friends and family, and I’ll see him when he gets back.

Ugh, finals week approaches too quickly. And I have all these stupid group presentations this week. Oh well, I have the break to look forward to.
