No light in the darkness

There's no real point to life is there? You wake up, go to work, come home, sleep, then do it all again the next day. Our lives here are so blatantly insignificant. Seriously. Even the more highly admired (detested by me) people, what can they say they accomplished? 'I was an actor/actress.' 'I was a basketball star.' Our society worships entertainers, but they do absolutely nothing for the advancement of mankind, or to make the world a better place. All they do is help us rot our minds. Whatever happened to the days when people would give their life for something they believe in? Men and women were admired for the sacrifices they made. People were heroes when they led an entire nation to freedom or saved people from certain doom. That's when heroes were heroes. Like all great things, the meaning has been lost or misconstrued. Now a hero is pretty much anyone who dies, or puts on makeup and dances in front of a movie camera.

I rue the day television was invented.
Society itself has lost its soul.
