Summary: When you open your eyes his smiling face vanishes and you’re hurting again.
You know you should have stayed at home today when you can barely make it to work alive. Yet you are sitting here now, getting your make-up done. You can hear the others talking, but their voices seem too far away, they hardly reach you. Your head feels like it’s close to bursting. But it’s okay; you’re used to it by now.
You feel a small hand touch your arm. When you open your eyes it’s Nakamaru’s face in front of yours. “Are you okay? You look pale,” you hear him say, worry evident in his tone. You tell him you’re alright. It’s a lie and he knows it but he lets you get away with it nonetheless. You’re thankful.
Maru is talking to the others now. They’re planning on going out tonight, you think it’s for karaoke. It would be fun, but you’ve never planned on coming along. You don’t need to be there to torture yoursef. You can see his face whenever you close your eyes. He’s laughing, having fun. It’s been a while since you’ve seen him this happy, this carefree. You don’t think he’s suffering, you’re sure he’s fine, even without you; it’s you who’s hurting.
But your mind is a wonderful place. It’s different there, you’re together, he and you. You’re happy.
When you open your eyes his smiling face vanishes and you’re hurting again. Your head is spinning even more now, if possible, but your make-up is done and it’s time for your shooting to start.
You drag yourself up and force your body to follow. It’s hard. Your legs sway a little, but before they get at chance to disappoint you, Koki is there, steadying you. When you can support yourself again you thank him and try to smile. He doesn’t return the gesture. “Take it easy,” he says, and doesn’t leave your side all the way to the set.
While you wait for the others to finish you decide to close your eyes for a few more moments. It’s relaxing and you don’t want to stress your body more than necessary.
It’s a strange situation you find youself in then. You’re at a park; hundreds of people are surrounding you. Hayato is beside you. You know you are dreaming now, because Jin isn’t Hayato anymore, just as you are not Ryu. He is Akanishi and you are Kamenashi, and Akanishi would never smile at you. It’s a nice dream, though, and you try to savor it.
You return Hayato’s smile and it feels awkward but right at the same time. Suddenly the people around you start running. “Hide where you feel safest,” someone shouts. Neither Hayato nor you move an inch. It’s a great feeling.
“I don’t need to hide, I’m safe with you,” you want to say, but Ryu isn’t really a sap, so you keep silent and Hayato smiles a little more.
It ends just as suddenly as it started. You’re moving now and in the back of your mind you register the ‘click’ of the camera. So shooting has already started. You don’t remember telling your body to get up but it did, so it’s alright. You’ve done this a thousand times already. “Smile, Kamenashi-san.” You do. You follow instructions and your body moves on auto-pilot.
The next moment someone is standing next to you and you know it’s him without having to check. It’s always been like this, you think, but you’re not sure if this is a reason for you to laugh or cry. You decide on neither and instead you try to listen to the photographer and follow the instructions. It’s easier.
You’re nearly touching now and you try to remember the instructor telling him to move closer. You’re pretty sure he didn’t, but can’t bring yourself to mind. His closeness is burning you. You can feel his body heat and suddenly you aren’t able to tell up from down anymore. You’re glad there’s a wall behind you because you think that without it your legs would maybe give out.
You feel trapped by him, by his body, when all he does is just stand beside you. He doesn’t even look at you and this is something you’re glad about, because you’re sure: one glance from those eyes - and you will lose control.
His body seems to swallow yours and suddenly he’s in front of you and you feel him pressing against you. It’s thrilling, your nerves are on fire. You’re glued to the wall and yet he’s still so close - it excites you. You’ve never been in such a position, let alone with him, and yet it feels oddly familiar, right.
Then he moves, and again you’re thankful for the wall at your back. This is heaven for you and all you want is more, more, more. You can’t stop the sound from escaping your throat and you stop caring about what he might think about you as long as he doesn’t leave now.
His breath is a ghosting touch on your neck and you can’t help but wonder how breathing could be such a turn-on. You think you hear him whisper “Kazuya” into your ear and you feel a shudder go down your spine.
You’re sure you’re moaning but when you feel him smiling against your collarbone you stop thinking altogether. Letting go feels wonderful. He repeats your name, louder this time. You want to answer but you don’t think your vocal chords will obey, so you concentrate on breathing and feeling.
Then it stops. You open your eyes and the photographer is calling your name and telling you to turn your head a little. You do it and now you’re facing him. He’s still beside you and you don’t know what to make of the expression on his face.
You’ve never been this embarrassed and your only hope is that he is the only one who heard your moans and that the bulge in your pants isn’t visible on the photos.
Later, in the bathroom, you take longer than usual and you hope that the others have already left for their night out when you return to the dressing room. It’s empty when you open the door and you want to sigh when relief floods over you.
Your head is spinning and all you want to do is go home, close your eyes and go back to the time when you and Jin were inseparable. Sleep will come easy tonight.
You decide to lie down on the couch a little, just to stop the world from spinning. You don’t want to faint.
This time, when you open your eyes, it takes some time to focus. But even when that moment has passed, Jin’s face doesn’t disappear. You wonder whether you’ve finally lost it. He’s talking but your mind has trouble progressing; his words sound slurred. ”Stupid”, “fever”, “fuck work” and “drive you home”.You let yourself be lifted from the couch, Holy shit Kame, you’ve lost weight”, and you hold on tighter.
He is helping you to move now; it almost feels as if he’s carrying you. In return you murmur his name because somehow you think it’s the right thing to do, and the movement stops. When you crack your eyes open, just a little, you think you see the shock on his face change into something else, but light hurts and it’s dark again.
You repeat his name, just to stop Jin from vanishing again and suddenly you feel lips on your own.
It’s a nice kiss - warm and gentle, and you start to wonder if your dreams have ever felt so real.
