On new things...

Things done over the past week that I have not done before...

We've had new windows installed, the white plastic double glazy type. They shine and glint and keep out the horrid sweary noises the local oiks make and the draughts have been banished.

I've made up my own hanging baskets for my garden. Not very exciting to most people probably, but this is something I've wanted to do for years. I was pleased to find that I'm quite good at it. I went crazy with the fuchsias. You can never have too many fuchsias, they're such flashy, brazen, tarty plants. I need more. I need more colour. I've taken to carrying secatuers and a carrier bag around with me everywhere so that I can snip cuttings off anything that takes my fancy. I used to be mortified when my Mum started chopping bits off plants in public places, now I'm doing the same, and buying double glazing. I should feel old. I don't. My garden is on the verge of erupting into a pinky purple frenzy and my windows are exciting, shiny and they open and then close again with the minimum of fuss. I'm full of childish anticipation and I skip out of my newly lockable back door.
