As I've said many times, I love the pacing in this chapter. Both parts zip right along and keep you right up in the action's face. I'm continuing to enjoy the two sets of sibling motivation (I'm having trouble coming up with a phrase to describe what I mean...) In the flashbacks, both Gillian and Dean are all about their fathers, and in the present sections, Angie and Sam are all about their siblings. It's a really nice (duh) parallel, but you don't bang it about the head and shoulders with a two-by-four. You leave me to do it in comments :-)
I didn't even know you'd posted this yet. Somewhere around "The air is buzzing," I was all, "Don't go into the Old Forest, Frodo! Merry's a liar-head who doesn't really know the way! Don't go to sleep under Old Man Willow!" and then - Gillian did. I was very excited.
