Hey all. *waves*

Am feeling distinctly anti-social as of late. Probably has something to do with losing my job. I've been "laid off". Good side: I have till October to find a new job. Bad side: I only have a job till October. Hence the whole 'want to curl up in a ball and ignore the rest of the world' mentality.

The weekend was spent sprawled over my chair, sweating, watching brainless tv. I saw cheesy made-for-tv movies on ABC Family and The 4400 and the Tonys. I want to go to NYC and catch David Hyde Pierce and Alan Tudyk and Tim Curry in Spamalot so badly. Then I want to hang out with them and Hugh Jackman and James Earl Jones and Joanna Gleason and Dan Fogler and then I want to go and find Casey and Zeke and join the Resistance. Yeap, that's all I ask of the universe, though, if it could just get me plane/theatre tickets and accomodations I'd happily settle for just seeing the musical.

Word Origin of the Day: Empathy - Although "empathy" is a natural human emotion, the term itself is relatively new, first popping up in the early part of the twentieth century. The German author T. Lipps coined the term Einfuhlung in 1903 to refer to this condition of human nature, which popularized the notion and prompted a separate coinage in English. It comes from the Greek word empatheia, literally translated as "feeling inside."

tv is my crack, stress, word origin of the day, work, 20 degrees of fandom
