You know one of the awesome things about being a single thirty year-old student? Being able to drive down to Chicago at a moment's notice just because hiyacynth said The Proclaimers were performing that evening and asked you if you wanted to go. Being spontaneous can really be a lot of fun, something I tend to forget way too often.

But the awesomest part of the evening was seeing hiyacynth who I don't get to see nearly enough. Yeah, the music was great as was the Winchester angst viewing of the end of SPN season one afterwards but being with hiyacynth just for a couple crazy hours was what made it all worth it. Fangirls are love xabillionty.

In other news: I see that it's Invisible Illness Week again. I feel like I have a lot of things to say, especially as regards my own experience with invisible illnesses, and perhaps I'll have the capacity to say some of it in the coming days. One of the things I find most striking about invisible illnesses is how many people I've known through the course of my life who are afflicted with them; depression, bipolar disorder, diabetes, Asperger's, arthritis, the list could go on and on. The most important lesson we have to learn is to be compassionate to the people around us because we can never know the things they are suffering from just as we, in our turn, wrestle with our own demons.

It's really true, if we could all just learn to be excellent to each other the world would be a better place. Oh, the lessons still to be learned from the movies of my adolescence. =D

deep thoughts 'n stuff, fangirls are love
