Holy crap, you guys. The totals from Sweet Charity are in and it raised $13,858.70(American). I, just, it feels so awesome to have been a part of that! It kind of makes me a little teary-eyed.
You know, for as cringeworthy and offensive some members of fandom can be, it's good to remember just how wonderful fandom can also be. And that the awesome far outweighs the crazy any day of the week. I've met some of the best people I've ever known and made some of my dearest friends all because of this strange little subculture in which we feel driven to participate.
We rock so hardcore.
Which reminds me, BBC World News just told me that at the Spouses' Dinner that coincided with the National Leaders' Dinner prior to the G20 tomorrow that Michelle Obama was seated next to J.K. Rowling. How awesome is that? And she gave the Queen a shoulder hug, and the Queen hugged her back! I know it's a breach of royal protocol but I don't care because OMG how adorable!
I am so happy that it's now Michelle and Barack Obama who represent my country on the world stage. It makes my heart overflow with joy.
And tomorrow will be Show. Where Real men will have real emotions and I will be filled with glee, or heart-wrenching sorrow but either way it will be glorious.
