Emotionally it's been an up and down past couple of days. Nothing large or traumatic, just normal crazy, as in I am crazy and sometimes I'm more crazy than others. So please forgive any hermit-like behavior from this quarter because it's definitely me, not you.

There was a retirement reception for the Da last Thursday. By this time next week (heck, but this time Friday night) the Da will officially be retired, for good this time. I know he's looking forward to it, though how we'll ever get him off the golf course or out of the heated driving range I don't know.

I grr arghed and burned the NCIS backdoor pilot for him as a retirement present. I kid you not, he literally jumped up and down in a circle flapping his hands when I gave it to him. At least I come by me geekiness honestly. ;-)

My Source at the IRS (also known as the Big Lug) has a lot of bad things to say about sidewalk tax prep places like H&R Block and Jackson Hewitt. Most of those people are only tax professionals in that they have had 2 or 3 weeks worth of training on how to use the software. Sounds like you'd be just as well off with Turbo Tax and calling the IRS helpline if needed. And, heck, if you do call the IRS you might have the extraordinary chance of speaking with the Big Lug. Tell him 'Hi' from me if you do.

Also, the new homeowner allowance isn't really what it seems. It's actually a 0% interest loan that you're taking from yourself and that you'll be paying back from your tax returns for the next few years. I'm not sure if anyone on my f-list would qualify for it anyway, so it's just FYI.

Had a marvelous dream last night. It didn't start off all that hot because Edmund and Peter died (though there was a blatant hint that said they'd only died in Narnia and had just gone back to England). But then Susan became High Queen and Lucy was still Queen Lucy but I was there also and I'd been married to Edmund (as an adult, of course, though I wasn't a queen). There was this great bit where Susan went through an armory and found all these nifty weapons that had been prophesied that she would bear as this great Queen of Narnia (shown entirely through Susan's POV). There was also this contingent of Amazons who showed up and were awesome. And then I woke up.

But, still, a most satisfying and exciting dream. And, you know, that could be a pretty exciting bit of fanfic, but possibly without the self-insert. Though I have to admit, I kinda love the self-insert.

I don't think I have much else. Have been hearing some pretty crazy stories in my Estate Planning course, I guess that's what happens when they get an actual estate planner to teach it. Have also seen the new SPN promo and nearly died of anticipation. Man alive, I think this season is going to kill me dead. But in a good way. And I know I say that every season, but this time it's for realz.

fanning is genetic, dream an impossible dream, family
