You all wanna know the best thing about 2009? The fact that the holidays are officially over! I have had two whole days without a phone call from my mother or a visit to the parents' house and it is utter and unending bliss.
Another thing that's bliss is all of the wonderful, fantabulous holiday cards I've received from people on my f-list. Thank you to elendiari22, auntiemeesh, obeliamedusa, and abyssinia4077 for the absolutely beeyootiful cards. I love them muchly and ya'll are the greatest.
Have I told you guys that the Da is completely obsessed with NCIS? Well, he is. Apparently he and the Mum watch it every night while they eat their dinner on TV trays in the living room (and, yes, my brothers and I gave them shit for becoming old people; we're considerate like that;-). I find this new addiction really hilarious, mostly because of Michael Weatherly and the Dark Angel connection. It's a pretty okay show, very much a procedural, and Mark Harmon is always a slice of all right. It's especially funny to watch it with the Wrestler and hear him mock the Marines. Apparently Army guys think they're better than any other military branch. Good to know.
Speaking of, have a Wrestler anecdote: The difference between the Marines and the Army is that when an Army unit runs out of ammo they'll fall back and get some more. When a Marine unit runs out of ammo they yell, "Fix bayonets!" and charge.
I've knitted so much in the past two days that my wrist aches. But, I've finished my High School BFFs housewarming afghan and have made a good start on the one for the Big Lug. I think I'll make one for La Grandmere as well, it'd make a good Christmas present. Apparently I have become the afghan making fool. After I give my wrists a well-deserved break.
Only 17 more days until the Inaguration. Be still my heart.
