learning journey with japanese

somehow it is hard to bid goodbye to all my dedicated tutors of LAJ1201. somehow, i do miss my intensive japanese language classes in school. the sunshine smiley faces of all my sensei, the fun loving conducive learning environment and the hearty, boisterous laughters of everyone when we make really silly mistakes. having done that many modules in nus, this is the one of the few modules (or maybe the only one!?) which i felt a sense of achievement upon completion. i walked into my first lecture without being able to read, write, speak or listen to any japanese phrases to what i am today. you know something guys, i was literally smiling to myself during exams when i was able to read the given passage (about 1 full page long) fluently and with good comprehension. a deep, earnest satisfaction was evinced. i was really impressed with myself.

all thanks to my tutors of LAJ1201. they made learning fun through conversational dialogues and short mini skit in class. can you imagine memorising a mini script every week and finally performing it in class. and everything entirely in japanese!! that's precisely what we do week after week. not to mention, maddness quizzes and lots lots of assignments every lesson. i was a slow learner and the tutors were very patient and helpful with us (the slower learners) throughtout the entire course. my listening is still bad, but definitely better than when i first started, when i really know nothing.

this is ほりえせんせい (pronounced as Horie Sensei). she is amazing and conducts bilingual (english and japanese) lectures to the cohort. sometimes, she comes for lectures with this とてもかわいい (kawaii) scarf on her neck

this is はまさきせんせい (Hamasaki Sensei) and he drills on our conversational skills. we always have to repeat after him in class, but we enjoyed his class tremendously
and there is one more sensei, あさはらせんせい (Asahara Sensei). i personally think that she is a very very effective tutor because she revises a lot during her class. she will revise the whole lot of what we learned last lesson and introduces new content for the current class. very intensive revision. very good!! my only regret is not taking a picture with her (i forgot to ask her on our last lesson, blur me).

to my all my sensei, 私日本語を教えてくれてありがとうございました。私は大学を出ます。頑張って!
