Lip loves En and his crowd with him that day. it was felix's birthday and the usual gang met at En to give our birthday boy a tummy full and lots of well wishes. to felix, stay youthful and cheerful as always, happy birthday!

En Japanese Dining Bar is a little gem nestled on the outskirts of town. En positions itself apart from the many other japanese establishments around, due to its speciality in okinawan cuisine - the cuisine of the japanese island of okinawa. due to differences in culture, climate, vegetables and other ingredients between okinawa and mainland japan, okinawan cuisine is very different from the usual japanese affair. okinawan foodie tend to have stronger and spicier flavors than japanese food and adopt chinese cooking styles, like stir-frying, into their menu. that also means rarer exotic japanese treats for you!

have been posting quite a few foodie entries (especially japanese cuisine) recently, and some of you guys are wondering which of these places are really worth a visit. if you ask, En is one of the few top priorities in the list of die-die-must-try! with returning japanese expatriates in the restaurant, you know you can't be wrong. for once, you can savor an okinawan experience without emptying your wallet. oishii dayo!

(7 kinds) sashimi platter

at En, they do miracles with simple dishes. these pork belly slices are simmered until the fat literally melts in your mouth! easy to chew and soaked in a goodness of light gravy at S$10. u don't find pork belly at sakae sushi menu, don't you!? o-ki-na-wan!

wafu beef steak. our birthday boy gave 5 thumbs-up to this. that is enough to say it all. i say, this dish will melt your heart! you'll love it. when it was served, we couldn't believe it when everything in the restaurant is that good

light & crispy and not laden with dripping oil. these soft shell crabs are tiny individual crabbies instead of a hefty one thrown into a pool of oil for an extended period of time. served with a sour soya dip at S$13.50

if tiny treats didnt fill you (yet), there is still the unagi fried rice.. this huge serving is enough to serve 3 (or more)! the eel bits gave the rice a fuller, sweeter and intense fragrance, yet not overly salty

S$13 well spent (on unagi fried rice) with absolutely no regrets!
