Roman Holiday.

Roman Holiday, a movie I've never seen, but a lifestyle I know well. Here I am, less than I month to go before I'm back in my Roma renting my very own apartment, eating bufala mozzarella on a regular basis, and slipping on cobblestone. I couldn't ask for anything more!

I haven't been writing for a while because I didn't feel the need to. For the first time since I've been back, I actually feel content to be here... probably because I've been on the beach a lot lately, and perhaps because I'm a little nervous to leave.

Surprised? Because I was when I realized that it was a feeling other than excitement. I know what to expect from Italy, but not from my new life there. New people, new place. I'm not living in Trastevere anymore and it devastates me, but I'm thrilled to explore San Giovanni... there are much less Americans walking around, and a lot of the young Italians going to university hang out in the area. I'm more nervous about the language this time though. Mostly because I've barely spoken a word since I've been here.

Confidence comes in waves. I couple weeks ago I was having an interesting interaction with a guy at Guitar Center in Manhattan, and one of the guys that worked there asked if I could translate for this guy that had been coming in for a couple of days. Jackie to the rescue! I met Franco from Roma that was just there to practice and fool around on the guitars while he was on vacation nearby. I was so happy I understood everything he said and that I was able to explain everything to him in Italian.

Still though... I need to get into the groove for a couple of weeks before I can start going out on dates again ;)

Maybe not.

I don't know! I wish you all could just come with me... I know few people read this, but the ones that do are mostly people that really, really love Italy in one way or another (it's the men).

...I bought a blue lacquered guitar. His name is Azzurro. Ya like?
