chemo with new cancer drugs

Feb 22, 2014 06:33

What a long day! Got to the doctor by 8.30. He said that I would no longer use paclitaxel since it has done a good job but would not do further good. In other words, it was maxed out.

I will still have carboplatin.

I will get a new drug, liposomal doxorubicin.
I will get the expensive new drug Avastin ((bevacizumab).

The new drugs had to be injected slowly -- just in case I had an allergic reaction.
Additionally, due to my anaemia, I had two units of whole blood.

By the time they got the drugs ready and the paperwork done, I started at 10.30. I finished at 6.30pm.

Today I need to take dexamethazone to prevent nausea. I take 2 x 4mg tablets at breakfast and lunch. This is repeated tomorrow.

Woke up this morning with a headache but no other problems.

new drugs, cancer
