I wanted to write about Jenny's wedding but realized I should probably write about my trip home first.

It was wonderful. My dad came to pick me up at the Newport News airport and we drove back to the house. My grandparents were on their way down from Rochester back to Florida so they'd just gotten to the house maybe an hour before I showed up. Plus, Rob & Rachel were there house & Toby-sitting while my parents had been on their second honeymoon in St. Thomas. They were all outside waiting for me when I pulled up. What a reception! I almost told my dad to turn the car around. But really, it was great. We caught up and helped mom get ready for a family clambake. Family habits die hard. The evening went well. Robby and I took Toby and Maggie for a walk and got to talk and everything, which was nice away from everyone time. G&G M left early the next morning so we all woke up at the crack of dawn to say goodbye. I spent the rest of the vacation waking up just as early, going for walks and runs, heading to the gym, laying out by the community pool, taking dad's convertible out for a spin, going out for TCBY, shopping at target, beating my dad at a game of pool (we got a new table and he beat me 2 out of 3, but still), driving into richmond to walk on the canal with mom and rach, getting filet mignon for dinner at the tobacco company, heading to the elizabeth arden spa with mom for a body wrap and a massage, going out to lunch and running into andrew foerster and his girlfriend, going shopping at the outdoor short pump mall and finding the perfect for dress for wedding #2.

It was such a nice and relaxing weekend. Complete detox, pure family time. A perfectly low-key getaway.

My plane left at 6:45 on Sunday morning so I got in, did my sunday chores and elected to go out for beers with my roommates, Jan and Ethan on Sunday night. The next night, I met Dana, my little in my sorority, out for a drink down in Coolidge, which was nice too. I had a freak out moment on my walk home and called Jenny to see if she needed me to come early for support. She essentially laughed at me, said she had plans already and not to throw off her schedule. I de-freaked. Tuesday was an easy night. Wednesday, I called off a date with a guy who I have yet to go out with but who I just don't feel like starting anything up with. Mel coerced me into going to Boylston to grab a few drinks instead. We went to Whiskey's for a beer and met a group of guys from North Carolina. They were very nice, older, just visiting for work stuff. I got a proposal from James, a 35 year old with a 9 year old son. Which was followed by a dinner invitation for the next night. I declined both. I figured I'd have enough to do to get ready for my drive on Friday.

I was right. Robby is now in the I need to get my book in the hands of publishers phase. So because I think it'd be pretty cool to know the process, I researched the hell out of it on Wednesday and then came back on Thursday to compile the methods and advice, suggestions and dos & donts on finding a literary agent, writing a query letter, putting together a synopsis, partial and complete submissions, etc. This is what I do best. Taking a whole bunch of information and condensing it. You wouldn't think so since I'm sort of a more is better type when it comes to my own personal writing, but I love combining facts and knowledge into something understandable.

I did this after I'd packed for Rochester and didn't finish until 11 or so. Jotted it off to my poor brother who'd have the task of deciphering krissyisms. I then talked online to Jan until 1:30 because he was going to summarize the new show "Windfall," which he just got me into. But we got talking about other things and you know how it goes. 1:30 came around and so did my alarm at 5 am the next morning. I took a shower, did last minute packing and was on the road for pittsford at 6:45.

This was the set up for my sleepless, but absolutely amazing, wedding weekend, which will be continued possibly tomorrow. The entry (a cleaned up version) is part of my gift to her. So technically I have a week.

Happy almost 4th!
