It seems like the last swap didn't go well at all, which is really unfortunate because they're awesome when they work ( Read more... )

I agree with all this.

I felt a little burned, I must admit, in one of the swaps when I sent out a Vagabond goths top and got a pair of HT plain black pants in return. Seriously, they were plain black pants. I had to check the label to make sure they were even lippy.

That blows. Part of the fun of the swap is to make someone's day, IMO. Sending off crap defeats the purpose of that completely.

But I know what you mean. I once got a dress that had rust stains from the grommets going through the laundry and it smelled like feet.

I've never been in a swap because of that idea. It's like a bad Secret Santa. :( And also I feel shitty sending something I don't want, and becuase I don't want it... it was prolly something I had for sale for a long time and no one bought :( I like to honestly communicate with the girls, and organize a trade that we both know what we are getting. I'm a scrouge like that, I don't care for surprises, I like to know what is going on, and then look forward to it! :D

Yeah, that's sort of my feelings sometimes. I would like to buy them something off their wishlist, but sometimes that can be hard if they are grails, and you don't want to start bidding against them on eBay by accident!

Agree with the value, it sucks when you get something worth WAY less than what you sent out. :(

I think I agree with this, too. For one swap I sent out a long PVC dress and spent $16 on overseas shipping and got a pair of vegi leather pants with a broken zipper that I still have lying around on the floor of my closet somewhere. Like, not only was it a pretty crappy item (and maybe that's just a difference of taste) but it was BROKEN - totally useless unless I bothered to go fix it.

I think anyone who sends damaged or very used items (only tried on or worn once/twice and still in perfect condition is OK) should also have a black mark against them and banned from future swaps. I would be very upset if I received something obviously worn or damaged. It really ruins the experience if some people send out tat they don't want, when others take it seriously and try and send something really good.
