I've been having dreams lately where I am back in places where I used to live, though in each case the city is idealized and beautified exaggeration. The Portland of my dreams crawls up the side of a 10,000 foot misty mountain. I am always ascending to the crest in some sort of shiny funicular, looking down on the city through rain clouds.
