Awesomeness points for Apple

I usually just post when I am grumpy, so I figured I'd give somebody a good review for once.

We just ordered a shiny new imac, and (probably because I missed some check somewhere, ordering at midnight) just discovered that Apple shipped it to the address they had on record. From the *last* time we ordered a computer. Three years ago. Oops. Good thing I checked the destination town on the Fedex tracker, although it would have been extra bonus points if I'd checked the shipping location as well as all of the tech specs and price in the confirmation mail.

I just called them to see about my options for delivery, expecting to be told to fill out the fedex form for alternate delivery with something like "Call this # and someone will show up and hand you an ID", or that I would need to work something out with my old landlady. Instead, they're redirecting the package and it will arrive early next week instead of tomorrow; and because of the inconvenience, they're refunding me not only the rapid shipping costs, but an extra $100. I'm kind of flabbergasted, because this is at least as much my fault as theirs (though when dealing with expensive computer purchases, I'd *really* like a clearer "is this the right address to ship to?" check) but I'm not complaining. That's really nice of them, and a sign that their customer service people apparently want to bend over backwards to keep me happy.

So, yay Apple. And I am *so* looking forward to the new toy. (And hey, now I'll have the software on hand as soon as it arrives to install Boot Camp, instead of having to wait till Monday.)
