Shift: 21:00 - 09:00 MSK/MSD (GMT+3/+4) (usually 10:00 - 22:00 PST/PDT except ~2 weeks around switch)
(while it's 12 hours we can divide it into 8 hours shift + 4 hours pager coverage; only pager on weekends)
Required qualifications:
- 3+ years of system administration experience
- familiarity with FreeBSD and Linux platforms
- familiarity with ticketing systems
- familiarity with source control systems (svn, cvs, perforce)
- ability to carefully follow instructions and checklists
- ability (and habit) of documenting actions (wiki, email), writing instructions and checklist
- fluent written English
- good references
- practical knowledge of basic Unix networking protocols - ip/tcp/udp/arp, routing, switching, firewalls
- basic router/switches configuration (Cisco or similar)
- good working knowledge of DNS
- shell scripting
- basic Unix security skills
Primary responsibilities:
- respond to email and pager alerts during the shift
- handle issues per instructions (open tickets, perform corrective actions, escalate)
- monitor performance of JS-Kit service
Secondary responsibilities:
- work on background projects (ops ticket)
- provide support to release engineering and development team
- learn Amazon Cloud services (EC2/S3/etc)
Good to have:
- experience with Amazon AWS - EC2, S3
- experience with FreeBSD jails
- NOC experience
- experience with Nagios, Cacti, RT, Trac (or other wikis)
- perl or python scripting
