In light of a few things---

Inspired by a cursed past---

Why would it be appropriate to strike a person other than in combat or at play? In polite company it is never appropriate. It's expected of rude, cruel people but is it learned? I don't want to ever dismiss anyone's upbringing, we all are raised differently after all.

Outside of those two, unless it goes along with some sort of ritual or tradition, I'd say it's not.

Considering what the deities have done, I don't think getting frustrated with them is baseless. Though I'm not sure how useful striking one of them is.
