I think a lot of those early conversations between E/B in the books are over looked. (From what I remember) hardly any made it to the movie, and I think that's one of my biggest problems with the film - they seem to just fall in love. In the books, there was a buildup, anticipation, yes there was attraction and something undeniable but they got to know each other.
yes, exactly! That's my biggest gripe about Twilight. What makes it worse is that Catherine acknowledges this in the commentary and says that this was the biggest complaint about the script (before the movie was finished!) yet she did not fix this. :(
I can't remember word for word, but she talks about it w/Rob and Kristen and says that the biggest complaint about the script was that they fall in love too quickly. Then she stops. She doesn't explain why she didn't have that changed.
This! I finally got my husband to read the series and when he watched the first movie he was disappointed all their convos were left out. He was like "What the heck! They didn't just fall in love, where are all the little convos that cemented their friendship?!"
Needless to say he was not happy with the first movie.
I totally agree. Those conversations help the reader fall in love and buy into their relationship and they were just eliminated to make this instant "You are my Life now" devotion that made no sense.
I agreed. In the movie, it's like the music was played, while they talked ..lol..we heard nothing ... but I know it's really hard to put the whole book into the movie.
