Wait, wait, wait... "Car-lyle"?

So I just listened to the podcast with Peter Facinelli and I stopped the player dead in its track when I heard them pronounce Carlisle "Car-lyle". I would never in a million years think that Carlisle was pronounced that way. I honestly thought it was pronounced like "Carls-ly". I mean, what happened to the "s" in Carlisle? It was so weird to think it was pronounced any other way... O_O Shocking.
Did anyone else have another way it was pronounced? Or is there any pronunciations anyone is if-y about too?
