A quick note to the real world

Jul 05, 2005 18:53

I woke up this morning to birds chirping, looked out my window saw nothing but green, and I thought where the hell am I?
What happened to waking up to the occasional siren?

Camp is camp and it's a little world that myself along with a handful of others have fallen into. We have made friends, some have made relationships, but we've all been making tons of fun.

As the kids are concerned I have cleaned up two separate sets of vomit, three separate sets of pee, and broken up one fist fight between two 8 year old girls. My first week I had two cabins; one with eight girls, the other with eleven. Last week both cabins had twelve girls each, and we are going to have fifteen in each cabin tomorrow.

The girls have been a pain in the ass, but a blessing in disguise. As much as they drive me crazy, by the end of the week I am a little sad to see them go.

As break time is concerned (which is non-existant), I basically spend my time sleeping. Days here are usually from 6 AM til' 12:30 AM, so sleeping time is taken whenever it's there.

I'm learning two new languages during my time here. The girls from England are teaching me British, because a lot of the words hey use are different then words we use (flashlight-torch, shopping cart-trolley, marker-felt). I'm learning some Zulu from Noel, a boy from South Africa, and I am actually quite good at it. I can pronounce the words fine, but I just forget what most of them mean.

I miss everyone at home, and am sad I wasn't able to come down for the fourth. Here I went to Frankenmuth, Birch Run, and then just chilled at camp in the rain. It's been raining for like two days straight here, and I hope it stops when the campers come tomorrow.

The food here sucks and I have been living off of pringles and PB&Js, but it's free so I can't really complain.

I do miss everyone at home, but I am so glad that I am here, because I have already learned so much from the people here. Since we have all become a family, they have all really taught me something about myself and life which is totally awesome.

I hope everyone has gotten my letters. To write me here the address is
Camp Ozanam
7303 Walker Rd
Carsonville MI. 48419

I'm out to get my laundry. LOVE YOU ALL!- Linze
