Ok guys, I need to vent. Desperately. Because right now I want to hunt down a certain physics professor and beat his brains out. But I don't think that's what Jesus would do ;)
In UT's daily newspaper, Pro-Life and Pro-Choice letters to the editor have been going back and forth for the past couple of weeks, since a Pro-Life group came on campus.
Now, I may be more Pro-Life than the Pope. I do not get angry about many things, but abortion is one of them. Probably the number one. I've been turning out pro-life position papers since Montana's class, I've gone to the Pro-Life March four times, etc.
Anyways, I've seen every Pro-Choice argument there is. But today, it was taken a bit too far. Anytime I read a Pro-Choice argument, it makes me angry, but I try to keep an open mind and listen to the others' points of view. Today, however, kind of pushed me over the edge.
Here is the address for our daily paper online, it will take you straight to the article:

Here's where my venting comes in.
SO much of that article, from the very beginning to his last word made me angry. But I cannot believe that he had the nerve to say some of the things he did.
"Clearly, no reasonable reading of the natural order can conclude that a “person” has been murdered or lost in this process [abortion]. Otherwise, every woman who has failed to implant a fertilized ovum or has had a miscarriage is guilty..."
Ok, in a miscarriage or such, you did not CHOOSE to end that life. That is just poor reasoning. I don't even know what else to say about this, except I can't believe that he believes that if we think that there's life from the moment of conception, every woman who has ahd a miscarriage is a murderer.
"I believe that our society’s current conventional wisdom is pretty much in accord with this picture. An early miscarriage, and an early abortion, may be cause for regret, but is not a tragedy and is not the loss or murder of a person."
Ok. Big breath. THIS is what made me so angry. Yes, it upsets me that he doesn't see an early abortion as the loss of a person. BUT WHERE does he get off saying that a miscarriage (abortion too) is regretful, but NOT A TRAGEDY, and is NOT THE LOSS OF A PERSON?!?!
I dare him to walk up to any woman who has suffered a miscarriage, no matter how early on, and say "Geez I'm sorry. That kind of sucks, but it's not a tragedy. After all, it's not like you lost a PERSON in there."
That was just a disrespectful statement to make.
Everything about his letter upset me. Y'all, I really am so deeply saddened by our world today. People will argue till the cows come home that you have to separate religion and just look at the scientific side, but I CAN'T separate God from my views... that's WHY I belive as I do. I think that's such a huge part of why our world has gone this way, people have taken God out of everything!!!
This topic in general makes me want to stand on a mountain top and just scream about how wrong it is. But I know that that's not the way Jesus would want it handled.
I just DON'T understand how someone cannot see life present form the moment of conception. I wonder where they think the magic line is that you cross form cells to baby. If it's not a child, then why are you so upset about being pregnant? I will NEVER understand how someone can feel OK with terminating a life... because to them it's a "life". Where along the way did our world get so jaded that we end lives and it means nothing????
I could go on for days and days about his, but I'm out of energy. I know this was not a very eloquent entry, but, like I said, I just needed to vent. Anyone who is Pro-Choice, feel free to comment as well. I promise I won't bite your head off, as I said I usually listen very respectfully to other arguments, this one just really threw me.
Thanks y'all. I needed that =) After all the anger is gone, I am left basically with a feeling of deep sadness for people like this man. I can't imagine living my life based so solely of of scientific view. He, and our world, needs prayers.
Cheers,
