Home at last!

I never thought I'd be so glad to be back in Dayton. It's probably more that I'm glad to be in my own space away from my parents or without three other girls sleeping in a tent. I also enjoy a decent mattress and a showerhead that has good water pressure with water that doesn't smell like boiled eggs (or a shower that obviously hasn't been cleaned in months). I do not miss the various insect fauna. But enough of that stuff...I'll try to keep the summary short:

So my longest time away from home that I can remember, two and a half weeks, started with flying to Boston to visit Nathan. I'm glad the T is pretty easy to navigate and that there are nice people that live there to help get your luggage on and off. Boston is a nice city; going to grad school there would be like a dream. We saw the Boston Pops with Amanda Palmer which was amazing, and the Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, which seemed to have very good production value for being done by a community theatre. [So I was told yesterday that the genre that best fits the Dresden Dolls is Punk Cabaret, which I find very suitable, even if just based on my limited knowledge of the group, especially the cabaret part.] We also went to the aquarium, my favorite part of which was the fur seals, and, of course, the dog park in the Common.

I was sort of sad I couldn't go to Origins or Comfest/Pride Parade this year. Oh well; I'm not really sure how well I fit in at either venue anyways.

Waiting for the bus to go to camp I'm afraid I may have been acting a bit goofy. I was extremely nervous about going, and that anxiety continued through the first two days of camp until I realized that I didn't have to worry about measuring up to the other college kids or social stuff. I really lucked out w/ my roommate situation: they were absolutely wonderful! I learned so much about becoming a better horn player and the industry, and made some very good contacts. Hooray!

I wish I could go to the International Horn Society Symposium, but it starts the same day as B session, plus it would be super expensive.

So after camp mom and dad picked me up and we went to the house on Lake Memphremagog w/ the rest of the Flocken clan. Too bad the house wasn't on the lake and the creek wasn't more than a trickle. The owners totally misreprented the property. Maybe Aunt Annette should consider using Google Earth next time before making the deposit. We didn't spend much time together outside of the our nuclear families anyways, so it was a super waste. The only day I enjoyed was when we went flyfishing with a guide back down in Vermont.

Montreal is a beautiful city, one in which I would like to live if I could get my French back up to speed. People were very friendly and accomodating though, so that was nice. Beautiful architecture, wonderful history, and huge variety of culture are a good combination. They also have an efficient and clean transit system.

Well, that's all I can really think to put down at the moment. I could go on and on about some of these things, but unless someone asks why not just go over it in you head? I already have done that enough on the matter for most of these paragraphs, but I would enjoy conversing about any points...
