Figured it was about time for a real update. Semester's finally starting to get into full swing; the homework load is increasing exponentially and I'm starting to get a little concerned. It's amazing how quickly you learn to cut corners, though; I never did that before last semester, and I feel like I'm already a pro. It makes me a little sad, but there's only so much I can do with my time and while school is definitely a prime priority, staying sane has taken the front seat.
Unfortunately, it seems like my requirements to stay sane are growing; all I've felt like doing all week is going dancing and it's taken true will-power not to give in. Hopefully I can get my fix on Saturday.
Yesterday I mailed off my application for study abroad. I'm now finding out that I might have forgotten/not known about a couple of pieces of the app, so I might have to send a second package; go figure. Fortunately, the cut off isn't until March, so I have plenty of time. Today I finished up an app for an internship at Cornell, bringing the total of internships I've finished applying for up to two =) I should only have another one or two applications due before I find out about the one I want, so I might be close to done.
O chem lab kind of sucked today; I'm sad because I had a really good lab bench last semester and now I'm not with most of them anymore. Worse still, the people who replaced them seem really quiet and the one time I tried talking with one of them, he didn't seem very friendly. Sigh. Makes me miss Friday afternoon lab parties...
Capoeira still rocks my world. I think I might have gotten my roommate hooked. She came to our practice on Tuesday and really liked it. Tonight I have class with my mestre, as usual, and he's bringing my berimbau! I bought it from him last week and have been so excited to get it; honestly, I think it's the only thing that got me out of bed this morning =) Hopefully I'll pick up the basics on that fairly quickly and be able to play the music as well as the game within a couple of weeks. I've also started training harder than usual and trying to work more on my own; we've got a batizado (baptism) in April or May and I really want to get my first cord (so be prepared to hear more than you ever wanted to about capoeira; you'll all be experts before you know it ;) )
