Stuck

I rarely get stuck on a story -- having a pretty good idea (even in bullet point format) as to what needs to happen to get me where I'm going -- but I hit a snag earlier this week. It's fixable, but it deflates some of the plot's tension. I can make up for it with subplot, but I'm irritated with myself for not having thought the long-term consequences through.

::grumbles::

Revises general outline ... again.

::hmph::

I always revise my outlines because I write organically and things change from chapter-to-chatper or act-to-act. While I don't always know what the characters are going to do until they do it, I usually know the direction they're headed. This week not so much. (And I know why this is happening, but I wish it would happen in three more months.)

And now my writing time is done for the day, and I have made zero progress. I suppose I shall have to be happy with the 9K I managed this week so far.

I need a headdesk icon.
