I'm Employed!....finally.

Nov 18, 2003 20:11

I was hired to work at the front desk in my dorm. I'm not really sure if I'm happy about getting the job, though. It will be really great for next semester, but I have to work Christmas Break which really sucks. We had a meeting last night to set up everyone's schedule till the end of break. Mine isn't too bad. I work Mon-Wed each week, and so I'll get to come home for long weekends in Dec. I also will be home on Christmas and New Years Eve...yeah! (I only hope I don't get stuck down here in a snow storm...that would really suck!)

So yesterday, I had to go to the campus employment office and fill out a bunch of paper work and tax forms for my job...and the guy working there said that the picture on my license was the best one he'd ever seen! Isn't that the best compliment ever!? Well, it made my day.

Today, I had classes as usual. In my Edu class, we had a guest speaker...a mexican teacher who is on a cultural exchange with the US. She spoke to us about the school system in Mexico, and about how hard it is for young hispanic students to make the transition to American schools. It was pretty interesting, and it made me wish I had had better teachers for Spanish...maybe I would have actually learned something. The only thing I remember is: Te amo no solo por quien eres, sino por quien soy cuando estoy contigo.....and that really won't help me out unless I'm saying it to Jacob.

In Religion, we're studying the Babylonian captivity of the Jews....it's pretty interesting to see how so many conflicts today have roots that go back thousands and thousands of years.

Thats pretty much it for today.

Snapple Fact: Mosquitoes are attracted to people who have recently eaten bananas.

For those of you following my Christmas Break countdown....30 days left!
