Short list of goodness

1. I discovered, via the eugenecommunity LJ, that there are incident reports from the police agencies hereabouts that are semi-interesting to read whilst alone in your pjs at home on a Friday night.

Amusing reports as follows:
One involved a woman who was pulled over because she was swerving all over the road, suspected to be driving under the influence, but when the officer pulled her over he discovered that she'd, apparently, been attempting to fill in paperwork while driving.

In another a man drove into tree, then attempted to pull out of the tree and drive again, when the car wouldn't start again, the man got out and said, "My car won't start." He was then, of course, arrested.

A third report indicated that a woman went into a convenience store, purchased a large soda, and then began yelling at the clerk about the government and various other things... now, I know the mental illness isn't really funny... but I did find it amusing that she completed the purchase and then started the crazy talk.

2. I'm going to see The Labyrinth with Holly. Holly is awesome. Hopefully tickets will not sell out. I need to see David Bowie singing with Muppets.

3. We got our Christmas tree! Since we've lived here (I was five) we have not purchased our Christmas tree until a week or two to the big day. The fact that we purchased it -- and my mom did a great job of haggling from 40 bucks to 32 -- is awesome. Plus, the fellow selling the trees happened to be the father of one of my and my mom's former coworkers. Excellent to see folks you know and to meet the parental guiders of nice people -- good job fathering, tree man!... well, let's hope.

4. So far my brother's new girlfriend, Kate, seems pretty much awesome. She's British, she's a research scientist, she likes my brother, and so far she's actually been nice to our family. I'm a little surprised that they're matched up, but we'll see and hopefully things will stay and be positive. I just don't want another sister-in-law who hates me on some fundemental level of inadequecy that has been arbitrarily arrived at because I don't pluck my eyebrows.

5. I mentioned The Labyrinth right?

6. I bought a new ottoman. It's got a hiding space for my various pieces of junk (which I must clean up before brother-n-girlfriend arrive this way... I have time... but it's also quite a big big big big big big big mess.) and Gracie has decided that it's a fun place to lay. George is less sure about it.

7. I get to go to a union meeting next week. I haven't actually been to a union meeting before, but it sounds good, in principle. Apparently there are sticking points with the district about our contract that have yet to be ironed out that, apparently, my input is supposed to help resolve, apparently. I don't know that I'll be much help, but it's really close to my house so it seems like it'd be lame if I didn't go. Plus, I pay them dues whether I participate or not... so... ya, lame if I didn't go.

8. I have not gone shopping outside of my computer screen so far this year. I'm hoping to stick with that. Perhaps I will attempt a voyage into the foray that is holiday shopping... but most likely midweek would be the plan for that.

9. Is a good number... and I had something but I lost it just now. If it comes back, I'll let you know. Oh... did I mention The Labyrinth?

;D

EDIT: I'm embarrassed to admit that I did not spell Labyrinth right once in this entry... and realized that whilst actually watching it. Oops. Fixed now. :P
