Surprisingly all right. I asked lots of questions and found out that the nurse practioner (she might be a doctor now?) is extremely more kickass than I thought.
Details in the cut.
Pretty good stuff, overall. As I said, I asked lots of questions. Also found out that a pap smear is not really needed at any point in virigns aside from wonky periods. So, got one of those, which was surprisingly not all that uncomfortable. She did it really fast and also was really gentle too.
Discussed the HPV vacination. I will also, likely, be getting the HPV shots at some point in the future - yay to not getting HPV or possibly getting cervical cancer from it if I did get it. Apparently the age limit bit is just an insurance company coverage thing, not an actual cut off. It's a chunk for the three shots needed, but I definitely think it's worth it in my ever growing path to better health and well-being.
Due to the wonky period action of late I will soon be starting birth control pills. We talked about the different kinds and I'm going for the daily stuff because she said it will probably help clear up my skin which I really look forward too. Now, granted, there have been some facial washes and things that have helped, but I'm bad at being consistent with them -- as in, I forget to wash my face at night often so it's never as effective as I'd like. I already take a multivitamin in the mornings with consistency so it'll go right along. She did say I might start a period before I get to the right section of the pills if I've ovulated already this month but that's okay.
Also --and run from this series of sentences if you're scared of body specific potential ickiness-- I have an infected ingrown hair in that area. Ugh. Exercise and fat thighs has resulted in this unpleasantness. Damn you, thighs! She perscribed anti-biotics to treat it.
Went to the pharmacy afterwards and met the cutest pharmacist ever. Tall, curly hair, glasses, a beard... general cuteness abounded. He kept saying my name and talked to me about my antibiotics. Antibiotics have never been nearly as fascinating as they seemed to be dicussing them with him. He did ask for what reason I was on them and I did not say -- ya, not to a handsome fellow across the counter... likely he's heard some icky stuff, but one likes to keep some ick to one's self. He talked about potential side effects like a rash or that sort of thing and I made a joke about spontaneous beard growth (since he had a beard) which went over well.
It was a very pleasant pharmacist/consumer flirtation.
Had lunch with my mom and a family friend, Diana.
Went to the gym with Holly.
Came home and did some sitting.
All kinds of good stuff. Yay to good health.
