TVD Season 3: Damon's Longer & Serious Quotes
So, here is the final part in my feel-good post. This started out as a purely selfish distraction - watching Damon on my screen over and over and looking for just the right picture to go with the quotes was quite therapeutic for me. It makes me happy that some friends have enjoyed the results of that distraction.
So, without further adieu, here is a lesser-seen side of Damon ...
"Stefan is gone and he's not coming back. Not in your lifetime." (3x01 The Birthday)
How hard this was for Damon to say is written on his face. He's always been straight and honest with Elena but now he's starting to show how it affects him when he has to tell her something that will hurt her. OMG, he just makes my heart melt.
"Okay, okay. But we are out of here before the moon is full and I'm werewolf bait." (3x02 The Hybrid)
We all knew that Damon was going to cave because he is incapable of saying 'no' to her when it really matters. That being said, he wasn't about to do that without her being aware of the risk to him. I love that his feelings for her are evident without making him the pining, lovesick brother. I also love that Damon is slowly starting to bring awareness to Elena.
"No, he's not okay, Elena. He's an insufferable martyr who needs his ass kicked. But he can be saved." (3x02 The Hybrid)
Damon is just so on the mark in this little speech. He really does know his brother like no one else ever could. I love that he's only serious with the people who mean the most to him (Stefan, Elena, and Alaric).
"I changed my mind, because even in his darkest place, my brother still can't let me die." (3x02 The Hybrid)
Ahh, there's that brotherly bond that I love so much. You know, the one either of them so rarely put words to? Right, and how telling is it that it's for Elena that he's willing to admit to it (or at least allude to it)? Hmmm ...
"I am not Stefan. How about you stop trying to turn me into him?" (3x04 Disturbing Behavior)
I can totally understand how Damon would be defensive about this. I mean, he lives with the fact that Stefan will always be Elena's first choice every single day. I don't think that Elena was consciously trying to make him into Stefan, but get why Damon would feel like she was. So many issues my OTP has ...*sigh*
"Why not? The walls are starting to close in on me here. Where are we going?" (3x04 Disturbing Behavior)
While this isn't overly serious, the nature of Damon's decision is and so is his tone when compared to the flippant, sarcastic one he usually uses with her. If Katherine's timing hadn't been what it was, I don't know that he would have made the same choice.
"No one's gonna hurt you. Especially not my brother." (3x06 Smells Like Teen Spirit)
There is nothing that Damon is more serious about than protecting Elena. His desire to have her remain alive and unhurt is constant and never-ending.
"You're all or nothing, man; you can't just be. Although, who am I to judge? Drink up, brother." (3x08 Ordinary People)
Damon's insight into Stefan is spot-on, once again. I love this line along with "Your problem is your inablilty to resist falling over it [the edge]". They were both things that Stefan needed to hear.
"Because I owe you and I can't just leave you in a cell to rot." (3x08 Ordinary People)
Aww, another lovely brotherly moment. I love how Damon leaves the point that really matters to him until the second half of his sentence, trying to hide it behind his justification of 'owing' Stefan. As dysfunctional as their relationship is, Damon is incapable of leaving Stefan alone when he saw that he'd truly given up.
"We're never getting Stefan back. You know that, don't you?" (3x09 Homecoming)
GAH! That momentary look of pure hurt on his face as the realization hits him that he's lost his brother (or so he believes). This bond will surely bring he & Elena closer simply in terms of her wanting to help him cope with this. It does something to me to see Damon this open and hurting ...
That's all she wrote, for now ;) Isn't this hiatus over yet? I so very much want to find out what happens next in Mystic Falls.
