Mulling over a fairly major decision - Feedback welcome

Hey F-List

I'm in the process of deciding whether or not to take advantage of an opportunity.  So, I thought I'd put this out into the LJ universe and see if anyone has some helpful words for me.

I'm currently living alone in a 1 bedroom apartment.  The rent is $735 a month including parking and heat.  I love the area and my landlord is great.

A 2 bedroom apartment just became available in the building.  The landlord is asking $1200 a month including 1 parking spot, but because I'm a tenant already, he'll let me have it for $1125 including 2 parking spots.  I could advertise for a roommate and ask $550 a month including parking.  Then the utilities could be split between the 2 of us.

My dilemma is this:  I'm so strapped for cash right now that I'm leary of taking the chance and not finding a roommate.  I could not comfortably manage paying the whole shot myself; On the other hand, this is a good opportunity and if I did get a roommate, I'd be saving a fairly substantial amount of money each month.

I do tend to be conservative and not take many chances.  It's just that I see the potential for good things in this, plus I prefer living with another person (provided we're compatible) rather than alone.

So, there you have it.  Any thoughts or advice are welcome.

Changing subject, my brother's birthday was yesterday.  Here are the 2 videos that I made for him.
