My Top 5 Nina & Ian Interviews
The idea for this post came while I was working on my Nian pictures one. I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to list my top five interviews. Of course, I'm not following "Top 5" exactly to the number ... there is 1 tie and a couple of honorable mentions. Somehow, I didn't think my fellow Nian followers would mind ;o) ...

The Vampire Diaries ITV2 Interview - June 2010 in London, UK
I love this one for Nina's over-reaction to Ian's non-existent reponse to her music taste. It just seems like she was so worried about his reaction, that she wanted to deflect it. It also lead to the sweet, reassuring arm stroking and squeezing by Ian (0:46 - 1:00).
ITV Interview The Cast's Favourite Things - June 2010 (estimated) in London, UK
This one I love for Ian's reponse to the question: "What gets you excited?" - "Nina" and when asked if they are friends off-set, they are totally saying one thing with their words and something completely different with their body language (arms touching and leaning back and forth with each other. So very cute and only emphasizes how close they are.

Vampire Diaries Panel at Paley Fest 2010 - March 6, 2010 in Los Angeles
The notable moments are in Part 2 (www.youtube.com/watch), Part 3 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbZzO-6-9T8), and Part 9 (www.youtube.com/watch).
This panel earned the number 5 spot for giving us the longest duration to observe Nina and Ian, and for the variety of things it showed us.
Although it's the earliest in the year, they show their attraction in several ways. They seem physically attuned to each other in that their way of sitting was very similar or exactly the same for a good portion of this panel. Little things like Ian leaning towards her, Nina angling her legs towards him, both of them leaning in, and Ian covering the arms of both of their chairs - these suggest to me their attraction, and Ian's desire to show that she's with him.
Specific moments that stuck with me include their hand-holding (Part 2, 5:01 - 5:04) and how Ian rubbed her fingers. This seemed rather intimate and a little possessive (in a good way). Another one was Ian saying they should all move in together (Part 2, 5:40 - 5:49), and they both shifted their weight toward each other, and Nina gives this huge smile. Then, there is this tiny moment (Part 3, 7:13), that I caught while in reverse slow-motion mode, where Ian's hand touches Nina's shoulder/hand while she's adjusting her dress strap (she does this several times during the panel). Paul was answering at this point, but the Nina & Ian came onto the big screen while this was happening. It just made me think that they can only go so long without touching - awww.
The biggest eye-opener for me happens towards the end of the panel (Part 9, 5:57 - 6:40). This cute, little girl asks "Does Elena have a crush on Damon? It seems like she does." Ian is looking very interestedly at Nina even while the question is being asked. They then exchange a (very intense, telling) look, then Nina tears herself away, exhales quickly, and looks at Paul, while Kevin and Ian proceed to answer. It very much looked to me that Nina was communicating to Ian that she did not want to handle that question, and he immediately responds to help her.
I can't forget to mention the very cute response (Part 9, 0:26 - 0:30) when Paul asks Ian "Who's the pretty one here, buddy?". Ian simply grins and points to Nina (3 times ;o).

I only found this interview today, and I enjoyed it so much, it ended up in the number 4 spot.
What grabbed me was just how physically in sync they are, how they are almost always touching on camera, Ian moving into her personal space and looking at her legs. Also, the way Nina looks at Ian was soft and sweet and affectionate, in my view. I enjoyed the overall easy-going, relaxed atmosphere of this interview.

EW Interview at Comic Con 2010 - July 26, 2010 in San Diego, CA
This one is number 3 for the great cameraderie between all 4 of them, along with how natural they are. They seem to have a rapport with the interviewer (Ausiello), so that makes their reactions somewhat more natural (with a little less of the neccessary pretense).
Nina sitting between Matt and Ian is a refreshing change from the ever-present (but posed) configuration of Paul-Nina-Ian. It 's great to see them all light-hearted, joking around, drinking Red Bull (in an attempt to stay awake, no doubt).
Nina and Ian always have some body parts touching, whether it's an elbow on a leg, forearms, or knees. Nina gives Ian an adorable look at one point. Their banter about giving things away, and Matt's "Oh, God!!!" made this a very enjoyable (albeit too short) interview to watch.

I could not decide between these two as I love them equally. First, a shout-out to arabian for posting the Kristin interview on YT, and for discovering all the great tidbits contained therein.
They just seem to be enjoying themselves in this interview. I think part of why I like it so much, is that this is one of the rare occasions that we see just the two of them. Their sweetness and chemistry are very apparent to me.
Ian stares at her from 0:10 - 0:16, then strokes her arm, while grinning, then Nina does this adorable "head-tilt with smile" move followed immediately by "mm" at 0:20 >>> this just struck me as so couple-y.
At 1:04, Ian says "... we hate each other" looking directly at Nina to see her reaction. She stops mid-sentence, turns her head, and says, "What?" in complete shock, followed by Ian's, "I'm joking", at which point she resumes her sentence. This shows how well Ian knows her, and how much he likes to provoke her reactions.
Finally, the cute moment at 2:38, when both are smiling and saying, "Let's call Kevin - make it happen" referring to a Damon/Elena kiss.
Now onto the other half of the #2 spot ...

E!Online Kristin interview - May 20/10 at CW Up Fronts in NYC

This one has lots of goodies (as anyone who has read arabian 's Nian Reference Guide knows). Here are my favorite moments in this interview:
Ian's hand on Nina's butt until 0:13. At 1:54, Nina puts her arms around both Ian and Paul. At 1:57, it sure looks like Ian & Nina are holding hands behind Nina's back until 2:05, when Ian's fingers appear on her right shoulder (they disappear at 2:31).
At 3:53, the blond lady says something to Ian after looking at Nina's back, followed by a guilty look (at 3:56) from Nina to Ian, followed by Ian checking (at 3:59) to see if the blond is still back there. This certainly suggests to me that they were doing something they should not have been.
This interview sticks out for me, as their attraction is strong enough that they'll take the chance of being "discovered" in a crowded, public occasion.

CW Source - Ian & Nina dish about the season finale
This one got top billing, as it was the first interview I saw where I immediately thought, "They are soooo together!". The five minutes are packed with all kinds of signs.
Right off the bat, Ian's tone is sexual. "You're a good tease, so go ahead - tease up." Nina's already looking at him (at 0:02), and her reaction to his statement is a telling look (from 0:13 - 0:15) during which she drops her gaze to look at his lips, with that distinctive (read suggestive) giggle (which we'll see more of).
Nina says "teasers" by mistake (at 0:25), like she's still thinking about Ian's comment at the beginning of the interview.
After answering a question (at 0:46), Nina looks up at Ian as soon as she's done talking, like she can't take her eyes off of him.
Ian's leading question (at 3:35), "Was that your favorite moment too?" with a direct look. Nina does that (suggestive) giggle for several seconds before denying that she was there (as if the thought of seeing Ian half-naked made her excited). Plus Ian's pseudo-innocent "Just a question?". This totally felt like an inside joke between them.
Then there was Ian's response (at 4:03) - "No, but we got to make out." How many times will he comment on that, seriously???
Finally, there was Nina ogling (read eye f*(&ing) him (at 4:20).
So, yeah .... left me thinking, "They are SOOOOO together"
