A "friend" who consistently hurts me
Checking my inbox today brought a completely unexpected reaction. In there were 3 e-mails that wrecked havoc on my emotional well-being.
Nick has been my "friend" for 20 years. Although life has taken us in separate paths on several occasions, we have always found each other again. This time around has just come to a screeching halt. We have been e-mailing and talking on the phone for just over a year now. He lead me to believe that he was single (for the first time in our history) and that I was the only one from his "previous" life that he was in contact with.
The long and short of it is he lied about several key things like the fact that he was living with his girlfriend (who he'd started dating before he moved to the other side of the country). He told me he was through with relationships period after 3 failed marriages. I am just so blinking pissed at him for lying to me. He could have told me the truth, but instead he spun this whole story about his life in Yukon so that he could cyber f**k with me.
I take some responsibility in this, but had I known he was in a relationship, I would not have let it get to this point. He says he was a coward and couldn't stop once it got going. This is not the first time that he has set me up in a situation and left me feeling sucker-punched.
I have officially had enough of him. Life is too short to spend time and energy on someone who won't be honest with and doesn't respect me.
