Vampire Diaries 30 day meme - Day 22
The first (and obvious) answer to this prompt popped into my head very quickly. I ended up disqualifying it on the grounds that it wasn't really an entrance (albeit a stroke of genius for the show's creative staff). It wasn't the first time we had seen this character, and we didn't know it was her at the time. I'm talking, of course, of Katherine in Founders Day.
So after thinking on it some more, here's what I ended up with.
Day 22 - Your favorite character entrance
Bree in Bloodlines (1 x 11) ~ "No. No, it can't be! Damon? Oh, my honey pie! mmm ..."

I enjoy the cool physical traits of this scene along with her welcoming, happy response at seeing Damon. The smooth way she hops over the bar, Damon's expression and hand rubbing in anticipation, her swagger over to where he's standing, her towering over him before leaning down for the best welcoming smooch in a long time. The way it makes Elena seem like the young schoolgirl that she is and for added enjoyment, Elena's great reaction to the lip lock right in front of her:
Isn't that expression priceless???
It also has to do with the fact that I love Gina Torres as an actor. She brings such vivacity to every role I've seen her in. Add that to Ian and Nina's great chemistry and this character entrance is made of win.
Another part of the appeal for me (in hindsight), is it just felt good to have someone give Damon a glad reception after all the nasty ones he'd had. Also, even though we later find out this was all an act, I didn't feel one iota of phoniness or pretense. Maybe that makes me naive, but it's part of why I chose this one.
So, there you have it. I can't believe there are only 8 more days in this meme. It's gone by rather quickly. I'll have more time to work on all the other ideas that writing this has prompted ... ;o)
