Feel free to tear this apart too.

This series of paintings, drawings, and photographs explore the emotional impact of imagery, the experience can be fleeting and impersonal or profound and unforgettable. My research explores the depth and emotional resonance of memory and its representation. This work shadows the inner workings of the mind, translating experiences that enhance or guard psychological well being. Through experimentation with various painting and drawing techniques my artwork transcends the border of traditional portraiture, figuration, and abstraction using two different methods.

Many of the images are self-portraits, of family members, where I evoke my own dark psychological connection with them. I juxtapose memories of my childhood in order to form a complex narrative and an emotional depth for the viewer. In using imagery based on the full figure I seek to explore the similar issues with the addition of physical contortion that represents the distortion of the mind and memory.

The technical aspect of my aesthetic utilizes multiple mediums such as charcoal, oil paint, bleach, fabric dye, xylene, spray paint, and van dyke brown photographic processes. Recently, explorations into non-traditional mediums embrace decay and deterioration of the surface, exemplifying the effects of time and the modification of memories.
