And... relax...

Part of my brain is going "arrgh, everything's happening at once, I just want the world to stop while I figure everything out and then I can deal with it."

Another part of my brain is telling me that actually, while there is slightly more going on than usual, it's not everything, and really if I just take deep breath and think about this calmly rather than panicking, things will go a lot smoother.

And even though I feel like there's no time to stop, that actually taking a day out to relax can actually be a good thing.

This weekend has been the Land Rover Max show at Newark.  Even though we don't have a Landy, we have quite a few friends off a Landy forum, and decided that going along for the day would be fun.  Admittedly, it was still touch and go as to whether we would make it given the scale of car hunting/house tidying/shopping/motorbiking tasks to be done... but we decided to go anyway.

I'm really glad we did.  It was good to catch up with people I hadn't seen for a few months, and even better to meet people that I'd only ever talked to online (and to find we got on.  That's always a worry!).  As usual, there were people I didn't get enough time to talk to properly, but overall, it was fab.  Plus we got to see the Battle of Britain flypast (a Lancaster bomber, a Spitfire, and a Hurricane) which was FANTASTIC.  I'll post some pics when I get round to it!  Even though it's not my era, there is something incredibly emotive about the sight, and above all the sound, of those propeller engines and those machines a few hundred feet above you.

And wandering around drooling (or, in some cases, thinking "WTF?") over various Land Rovers in the sun is always a good way to spend a day.  For us, anyway.

It was a much-needed day away from everything, and I feel sooooooo much more human now.

land rovers, pointless rambling
