Why I hate shoe shopping

I have weird feet.  Official.

As part of the list of things to get done this morning, I went to Go Outdoors to get me some more trainers, specifically Hedgehog XCRs (we had a 10% off voucher for North Face stuff).  I've had a pair for over 2 years (28 months, to be precise), and they've been worn practically every day in pretty much all weathers - they've been used in town, in mud, in the rain, on snow, for a mild bit of hill walking, all sorts - and they're only just beginning to die.  They're still incredibly grippy, comfortable and even waterproof (I love Gore-Tex shoes!).  Given that I usually wear most trainers out in 12 - 18 months, these have really, really impressed me.

So, I decided to go for the new version of them.  They do them in both women's and men's, and last time I managed to fit into a size 7.5 women's one.  Looking at the boxes, they've done a lot of development work, supposedly so they fit each sex better.

A size 7.5 in the women's shoe was too tight - tight enough that a size 8 wouldn't have been any better.

Luckily, a size 7 in the men's version fits me perfectly.

Is it any wonder I only go shoe shopping when I have to?
