1. I was up late one Saturday night/Sunday morning and came across an ad for LaLaLoopsy dolls? Has anyone else seen them? They are hands down the creepiest thing I have ever seen marketed towards children including those dolls that would grow hair and poop like we had when I was little. They have button eyes and these weird, thin insectish-like bodies complete with colorful (read: neon) bobbed hair. They are weird. And creepy.
2. I think the only thing I remember from The King and I is when Yul Brynner did the infamous “Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera” line. It never fails to crack me up. I find myself repeating that whenever I say “etc.” Weird, but true.
3. My new favorite site is
Netflix Instant Watch Tracker. It lists all of the Instant Streaming movies currently available on Netflix as well as lists the movies that are about to expire. This is much easier than trying to go through pages and pages on Netflix trying to figure out if they’ve added anything new in the last week.
4. As a person who treasures my ability to write in cursive, I weep.
The Case for Cursive (NYT) 5. April sucks. No, seriously. Weather wise, April sucks balls and then some. It’s nearly midnight and I have been flipping back and forth through news stations in Atlanta glaring at Doppler radar and cursing the idiot who thought digital television was a good idea during severe weather. So far, Rome in Floyd County has been hit the hardest. They’ve gotten one storm after another. I’m closer in to the city and we’ve gotten plenty of wind, a little thunder, and some rain. Oh, but it’s coming. I see the nasty red and yellow on the screen now. And there goes the thunder and lightning. Joy.
6. I am not a Twilight lover. I’m more like an apathetic observer that can’t take their eyes away from the train wreck. I don’t like it. I don’t hate it. It’s just there. I narrowly escaped falling into a coma after trying to read the first book. That being said, I’ll read fanfic for virtually anything as long as the story is well-written. A few weeks ago, I started reading Twific for the first time in three years and am pleasantly surprised with how much it’s progressed. There are so many good stories and if you permit me, I’ll give you a list of (some) of my favorites.
1.
Behind Enemy Lines by Jazzella (Bella/Jasper) - What was the real story behind Jasper's almost-attack on Bella at the birthday party? And what does it have to do with a mysterious history project?
2.
Bella Hale by JulesSC (Bella/Edward) - Six year old Isabella Swan was orphaned after a car crash took her parents away, and Edward and the Cullens find her. Alice decides to keep her, and Edward tries to protect her.
3.
Bella Swan: Kidnapper by Kambria Rain (Bella/Edward) - Um. Hi. I don't really know how to say this, but I have your kids with me, and I was thinking maybe you would like them back. So yeah… call me.
4.
Life Happens, So Just Roll With It by mama4dukes (Bella/Jasper) - 5 years after the events in New Moon, the Cullens are living in New Hampshire and Edward is finally getting married. During a wild night out on the town, some of the Cullens run into a happy, more confident Bella who only has eyes for our favorite Major.
5.
Major Jasper and Blackbird by CalendulaM (Bella/Jasper friendship) - Bella talks in her sleep. Emmett gets an idea. Jasper/Bella bonding ensues.
6.
Moonlit by StormDragonfly (Bella/Carlisle) - When Bella returns to the town she hasn't lived in since she was eight, she's intrigued by the Cullens more than she realizes. As she matures and starts to consider the weight of choice and morals, she realizes there is one man who's always there for her.
7.
Shoot the Sky by Majesta Moniet (Bella/Jasper) - After their bizarre encounter her first day in biology, Bella was certain that Edward Cullen was the most intriguing aspect of dreary Forks. Until she met his brother.
8.
Swansong by faithunbreakable (Bella/Jasper) - She's Swan and she's just passing through, an accumulation of all you never knew. - AU diverging from New Moon.
9.
Take This Heart by BookwormBaby2580 (Bella/Carlisle) - Bella's dark life is lightened by hope when she moves to Forks and meets Carlisle Cullen. Will have references to physical, sexual, and emotional abuse.
10.
The Orbiting Meteor by IdreamofEddy (Bella/Peter) - Three and half years after escaping from the mythological and heartbreaking world of Forks, Bella is moving on with her life. What happens when a mysterious stranger catapults her back into the world she so desperately wanted to leave behind?
11. Bonus:
Terms of Engagement by SnarkySimaril (Bella/Peter) - "I am a sexy, gifted, bad-ass vamp, how much trouble can one little human be?" - Peter thought he knew it all, that was before he met Bella Swan.
If there’s only one story you can choose, I’d highly recommend “Behind Enemy Lines.” I cannot emphasize how wonderful this story is and how original the plot is.
7. I have to admit, after watching last week’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, I’m on the Elena/Elijah train. That man looks good in a suit.
