Selling my Artwork

Oct 12, 2006 15:55

So, I showed you all my completed still life, right? Well, now I am trying to sell prints of it. You see, October 28 is Penn's homecoming, which, in and of itself, is a great opportunity to try to sell this thing, but on top of that it so happens that the Penn band (my target audience) is moving into a newly designed facility and is hosting a special ribbon-cutting ceremony for the band and band alums on that day. This seems to me an opportunity I can not afford to miss.

So I have been running around like crazy trying to pull this off. The issues:
1. The painting was just finished a few days ago and isn't even completely dry. (At least not the music or the signature)
2. It really needs to be varnished, because the paint that IS dry has dried unevenly leaving dull spots. These spots disappear when it's varnished, but for now they are plaguing me because they are showing up in the photograph from which the prints will be made.
3. I'm still trying to contact Penn people (like at the bookstore which is really a gift shop) to see if I can sell prints or notecards through them. I'm not sure how/where I am going to sell these things once I get there.

BUT....I'll figure it out somehow and maybe, finally, truly become a working artist!
