We've had hail today. Well, first rain, then snow, then finally hail about the time I was walking home (and it's still going, off and on).
You know those little white crumbles that get stuck to your stuff when it's packed with styrofoam packing peanuts? That's what it looks like: they don't melt when they hit the ground, they just get swept away by the wind and stick to your clothes. It was a little like walking home in a snow globe.
And that would be totally fantastic... Except that it's the middle of April. It's actually been getting colder over the last month -- with the exception of last Saturday, when it was 81 degrees. No lie. Seattleites emerged from their homes, blinking their eyes and looking around suspiciously, then basked like alligators on every horizontal surface in the city.
This, I am inclined to believe, is minor climate change in action. Are we in for another Little Ice Age up here in the PNW, while the Southeast bakes like Mad Max? I like snow, don't get me wrong, but I'm not happy with the prospect of winter lasting 7 months.
I don't know if I should be investing in more coats, or buying a new pair of shorts... Will summer ever get here? Honestly, I'd even settle for spring at this point.
